December 11, 200223 yr I often have a problem with long haul fligts namely that I find no way to predict winds en route. I use to add some tons fuel to be prepared for significant head winds but I would like to know how I can get wind dir/speed along my route after having downloaded real weather with winds aloft into FS2002.Does somebody know that?
December 11, 200223 yr Here is a link to a real world weather aviation site that I use. If yuo are flying on line or have constant internet access open a browser and get the info.Supposed to do BFR today. Look at the METARs for KPWA. NO Go today. Wx has been like this for about 3 or 4 days now. Worsening tomorrow.http://adds.aviationweather.noaa.gov/ Donald E. Donovan Flying is the 2nd greatest thrill known to man The 1st is landing.
December 11, 200223 yr A good site is http://aviationweather.gov/fdwinds.There you can see the winds aloft at different altitudes. Remember a site where one entered a flight plan and the site displayed the best altitude based on winds aloft en route. I can't remember the site, hopefully another poster will.EDIT: Never mind, I found it! The site is www.fltplan.com. Unfortunately it's only for flight in the USA. Still, great site and it's free.RegardsDave Vega dv Win 10 Pro || i7-8700K || 32GB || ASUS Z370-P MB || NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti 11Gb || 2 960 PRO 1TB, 840 EVO My Files in the AVSIM Library
December 11, 200223 yr This is how the big guys have it... Makes it look so darn easy! Look for the winds aloft forecast. BTW, I flew this flight the day of the plan, and the FSMETEO winds aloft were almost exact!!! See attached:Sincerely,Phil Geddeshttp://cs-people.bu.edu/pgeddes/aal16.txt
