I am trying to use Ver 1.7 on a flight in Alaska in offline mode. I am seeing extremely high air temps (verified by examination of the status page) of 20 deg C at FL200. In online mode, it works OK, but in offline mode, with two sets of data downloaded over 2 days, the temps are grossly in error.In the winds aloft window I see:WMO ID: 70350/ 235nm...[32686(9950):005/30/00]That looks to me like 0 deg C at FL327...is that 00 missing data being read as a temp of 0 perhaps?RegardsBob Scott

Me too Bob. The other day on a flight from KORD to PHOG I had a fire in both engines b/c of a temp of +38c!! That was at FL350. The temp rise was also accompanied by a change in wind direction and speed to a 200kt. wind from the east. Had to end my FS session because of the problems.

Hi BobI am a member of the Beta tester team and I have had discussions with Damian about this. It seems to be an inherent fault within FS2002 as Damian pointed out to me that if you fly slowly at altitude the temperature decreases and as your speed increases so does the temperature. I have tried this at 30000' and can confirm it.I have found that lower ground temperatures give a more realistic temperature reading at altitude than those in tropical climes. There are though exceptions to this.I do most of my flying offline, and it is one little bug that irritates me to an extent. Damian reports that he has spent many many hours on problems with temperatures and FS2002.CheersMike

Did a flight at 290 without any problem in temps. The OAT should not change with speed, but a related temp--the TAT (total air temp)--will, in fact, increase as the aircraft speeds up, due to the increasing pressure in the probe (per the Ideal Gas Law). This isn't a problem with FS, it's real-world behavior.When I see an apparent aberration like this, I use one of several utilities to look into the FS internals to see exactly what FS is modeling (rather than what the panel is reporting). In the case of the strange high temps previously reported in this thread, what I'm reporting came from looking directly into FS (and the status page of ActiveSky showed same bogus temp).CheersBob

Hi Bob,There is a little problem here in the coding that I'm working on, will be included in RC3 due in a couple days. The 99999 value from raw report is incorrectly defaulting to 0 instead of being interpolated. Most reports always have temp values though (at least in those areas I have directly tested) so I can see how this slipped through.
