May 9, 200323 yr Commercial Member Hi, RC6 fixes a problem with offline winds aloft processing with certain stations, which could cause reports with valid information to be tossed and reprocessed. This error also caused performance problems (frame rates). Thanks to Steve for his help with this!http://www.hifisim.com/wxre18updaterc6.zipYou must be a current wxRE 1.x user to participate in this public beta. Official release now scheduled for tomorrow night assuming no new bug reports come in. Thanks everyone for your assistance and input!!!-Damian

Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation SoftwareDeveloper of ActiveSkyThe next-generation weather environment simulation for FS2002!http://hifi.avsim.net/activeskyhttp://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg]
[/table://http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/ima...
[/table Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
May 10, 200323 yr Hi Damian!I wonder if you could edit the msi installer so it removes the old updates (the 1.5,1.6,1.7 guids) from Add/Remove program. As it is today I have 8 wxRE lines where 4 of them are the different 1.8rc's./ThomasI know I can hack the registry... :-)
May 10, 200323 yr Not receiving ANY winds this morning (on-line) with v1.8rc6. Flying out of KDFW and around Dallas area.Program hangs up and says "winds initializing". Nothing ever happens / can't close because it says "update in progress (NOT!).Tried FS_Meteo....everything downloaded in seconds.Did not have trouble with v1.8rc5.What happened?P.S. FlightSim framerate suffers for first time while the winds say they are trying to initialize. Another step back?Glenn D. Willmot
May 10, 200323 yr This morning I am getting the communication problem with the online d/l of aloft winds. It's probably the server which he has no control over. Eric
May 10, 200323 yr Probably not a problem with RC6. Both public wind servers have been down for a couple of hours now, for online as well as offline data. FS-Meteo connects to a private server with cached data. (I guess it's open for speculation as to how current that data might be.)Damian can't revive those public servers - let's just hope they come back online soon.Peter
May 10, 200323 yr Thanks to everyone for clueing me in......first time I've had that happen and it scared me.Thanks again.Glenn D. Willmot
May 12, 200323 yr Sorry, I'm sure this a dumb question, but I downloaded WxRe 1.8 about six weeks ago... what's this new version all about? Thanks for the person with the patience to clear this up!Tom
May 12, 200323 yr Tom,V1.7 is the last "officially released" version, I believe. For beta testing of v1.8, Damian kindly made several release candidates (RC)available, optimizing and fixing things along the way. The latest beta revision currently is v1.8rc6 (version 1.8 release candidate 6), as linked in Damians first post in this thread (right-click->save as to d'l and install). Then again, if your happy with your current version, you might just want to wait until Damian releases the non-beta "official" 1.8 version on the main website.Peter
May 14, 200323 yr Hi Damian,On May 9th you said:"Official release now scheduled for tomorrow night assuming no new bug reports come in. Thanks everyone for your assistance and input!!!-Damian"Any update?Cheers!Claus:-jumpy
