Will version 2.0 fix this problem?

Featured Replies

I posted this in the MSFS forum:Anyone else getting severe wind shifts using fsmeteo 6.3? even using fsuipc's parameters to dampen the wind shifts to 1 degree every 30 seconds and disabling upper wind gusts in the fsmeteo options does not affect these wind gusts. I assume they are due to the way fsmeteo handles the weather by setting each station and then inputting it into fs2004 thereby when flying from one metar station to the next the wind shifts violently. Any cure for this?Do you think version 2.0 will be able to fix this? Many users are reporting that there speed drops from say .80 mach to .65 or lower as you go from one area to the next. It is a major problem and has cuased me to crash once already. Thanks

Eric,I have found that AS1.91 is not as severe as FSMeteo v6.However I have been unable to get FS Meteo to work since the beginning of September.

Hi Eric,The problem is that with FS2004's new localized station-based weather, as soon as you enter a new "closest airport" range you will immediately get the new closest airport wx, including winds aloft. What we are doing with AS2 is including a station-based wind smoothing option where, according to your flight plan, your "enroute" winds will prevail and other stations will only slightly vary from this, to keep the jumps minimal. When you near your destination station the winds will always force appropriately to the correct destination wind data.-Damian

Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation SoftwareDeveloper of ActiveSkyThe next-generation weather environment simulation for FS2002!http://hifi.avsim.net/activeskyhttp://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg]
[/table://http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/ima...
[/table

Damian,Ahh, very good sir. I switched to Activesky 1.91 and like the fella above stated, I am no longer getting these violent shifts. Will be buying version 2.0 as soon as it hits the cyber airwaves!
