December 2, 200322 yr This was fun. I downloaded current weather, for an offline flight. I live right under the approach to runway 25 at KLEB (Lebanon, New Hampshire). We had snow squalls all day. Next minute, blue skies and sun. Sounded like a challenge for AS2k4 to me, but this program met the challenge admirably! Here's proof:The www.intellicast.com radar at download time. Please notice that KLEB is pretty much right in the middle of the square created by Vermont and New Hampshire, while KMHT (Manchester, NH) is half way between KLEB and KBOS (Just south of KCON):http://cobweb.dartmouth.edu/~gridlock/!Intellicast.jpgHold short, runway 36 (as in "you're not the only idiot willing to fly in this.")http://cobweb.dartmouth.edu/~gridlock/fsscr002.jpgClimbing out:http://cobweb.dartmouth.edu/~gridlock/fsscr008.jpgThere it is, the great blue yonder - or as we call it, a "sucker hole" for anyone who might think it'll turn nice.http://cobweb.dartmouth.edu/~gridlock/fsscr009.jpgOminous skieshttp://cobweb.dartmouth.edu/~gridlock/fsscr015.jpgBreaking out:http://cobweb.dartmouth.edu/~gridlock/fsscr021.jpgBreaking back in!http://cobweb.dartmouth.edu/~gridlock/fsscr028.jpgJust spectacular...http://cobweb.dartmouth.edu/~gridlock/fsscr037.jpghttp://cobweb.dartmouth.edu/~gridlock/fsscr042.jpgLeaving the heavy stuff behindhttp://cobweb.dartmouth.edu/~gridlock/fsscr051.jpghttp://cobweb.dartmouth.edu/~gridlock/fsscr059.jpg"Descend to 2200, expect visual (?!) runway 35"http://cobweb.dartmouth.edu/~gridlock/fsscr064.jpgI don't see an airport, do you see an airport?!http://cobweb.dartmouth.edu/~gridlock/fsscr069.jpgEnable Cheat Code....NOW! December 2, 200322 yr This is pretty good stuff. Sequential slides like these can make believers out of sceptics. An ability to fly into the weather and then leave it (visibly) behind is certainly something that many of us dreamed of for a long time.Yep, enjoyed it very much. thanx. Damian could use something like this in his glossy sales brochure.Michael J. Michael J.
December 3, 200322 yr Author Thanks Michael. Damian is obviously welcome to any and all of the shots I posted. Without ActiveSky2004, they wouldn't look half as good!Best,sg [email protected] | 32gb RAM | EVGA GTX1080 8gb | Mostly P3Dv5 (also IL2:BoX, DCS, XP11)
