December 20, 200322 yr Here are my results. This is a flight I am making right now, Just flying south from Seattle (KSEA) almost to Portland (KPDX). December 20, 200322 yr James,Things look good. Are clouds set to 50 miles in FS and dynamic weather is none?JimActiveSky Support
December 20, 200322 yr I have been noticing this problem over and over again and frankly it is ruining fs9 for me. The new active sky is great but with or without it, when real weather is ON the clear sky thing happens to me during the approach to the destination...say spokane GEG decending through 6000ft (there is a defintite reporting station.at GEG) What happens is the weather system in fs9 switches from the real weather METAR back to global user defined weather for some reason and for me its always getting closer to the ground on approach...then we see the CLEAR sky we set in before switching to active sky or real weather. I have noticed many people talking about this....I'll bet there's alot more who arn't noting it.
December 22, 200322 yr I must admit i to have been having the same problem - just wondering if anyone on here hasnt got this problem could they post there settings so we could all enjoy this a little more Regard Rob
December 22, 200322 yr RobHere is mine://AS2004 configuration file[General]WindowPosX = 4170WindowPosY = 4320DefaultWeatherFolder = C:FS2004ModulesActiveSky2004SuppressionCeiling = 10000SurfaceWindLimit = 10CloudLayerLimit = 5LocalSuppressionRange = 30OnlineUpdates = TrueExtendedDestinationWindsForce = TrueGlobalWrites = FalseVoicePlayback = TrueLocalSuppression = TrueStartupSound = TrueUseProxyServer = FalseFogLayerGeneration = TrueUpdateSuppression = TrueOvercastEnhancement = TrueRouteWindSmoothing = TrueLimitSurfaceWinds = FalseLimitCloudLayers = FalseDisableUpperLayerGeneration = FalseVisibilitySmoothing = TrueDisableMessages = TrueAutoTimeZoneDetection = TrueUpdateInterval = 10VATSIMData = FalseZuluConversion = -5TAFProcessing = FalseWakeTurb = TrueStartPaused = FalseUseSystemTime = TrueDisableCAVOKClouds = FalseProxyAddress = NONEHope this helps,JimActiveSky Support
December 22, 200322 yr Thanks for the quick response Jim, I will copy your ini and give it a try . Fingers crossed Regards Rob
December 22, 200322 yr Jim - just to give you a update - i tried your ini but things were still the same so i looked at my fsiupc config and found that the " clear weather stops dynamics " was checked so i unchecked it . Now at the moment that seems to have made a difference . Can you please confirm that yours is also unchecked Regards Rob
December 22, 200322 yr What I can say is that during all the beta testing I didn't use *any* FSUIPC weather settings. Only now I'm starting to add things and look for interactions with AS2004, but is a slow process.Jos
December 23, 200322 yr Rob,I use the free version and in a way am glad I do because I don't have those extra settings to mess with. I really never used the advanced features. I guess that is why I hardly see some of the problems others see. Cloud transitions are usually smooth, same for winds, and my airspeed never drops to zero due to icing.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Support
December 23, 200322 yr Thanks Jim for your reply - i have noticed the airspeed droping to zero and cant figure a way around that at the moment - apart from having the iceing turn on . No doubt in time all these little problems will be ironed out - Thanks for your great support and again thanks for a great program - what would we do without you
December 23, 200322 yr Turn icing in FSUIPC OFF. In FS in your plane turn Pitot heat ON (Shift/H).Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Support
December 23, 200322 yr Commercial Member Jim,I just saw some really really bad sudden cloud transitions flying from KSEA-KGEG. At least three or four times during the flight, the cloud banks I could see myself flying toward just disappeared. I could still see the ones behind me though. Then as I descended into Spokane, I was suddenly in the soup despite having been able to see for at least 60+ miles with no clouds in sight in front of me a few seconds earlier. I'm using the AS2004.ini that you posted earlier in this thread. Registered FSUIPC with min weather defaults, no smoothing on etc as per instructions... December 23, 200322 yr Hi Jim - I`m happy to say that finally i have got this working - all i did was after loading the flight plan into AS2004 MAKE SURE to REFRESH the weather before the flight . Also i have nothing checked within the FSUIPC config .... yipeee Regards Rob
December 24, 200322 yr yep, SEA to GEG is a great example of where you can see some of the really bad cloud tansitions that I've been seeing. The worst is coming through about 11,000 and say 20 to 30 miles out from GEG ( from FL30000) and having all the spokane area clouds just vanish...then only to have some of this and some of that suddenly reappear. hope we can clear this up. lenrow
