Offline AS2004

Featured Replies

Hi Damian & Jim,before purchasing AS2004, I've a dumb question: is it possible to get to OFFLINE files from your private server without having the AS2004 installed ? The problem is: I do not have an Internet connection at home, only in the office, and I cannot install AS2004 in my office's PC, that's all. Since now, using AS2002, I was able to have nice offline files simply downolading METARS,TAF and wind cycles from NOAA servers...Hope it is possible to get the offline files for AS04 too...Many thanks and Merry Xmas.Enrico.

Hi Enrico,Sorry, this is not supported. AS2004 must be installed on the computer to download, as there is a special decryption and decompression algorithm that is integrated into it. This is to protect our data from being accessed by non-AS2004 users.Your user license permits you to use AS2004 on 2 machines (by one person), so this could be the solution IF you can install AS2004 in your office PC.When the month ends, I do plan on making a public .zip of the text/sharable versions of weather archives, but this will not be an official feature and may be delayed depending on other events.-Damian

Hi Damian,I have the same problem Enrico has. Not internet connection at home but at the office. However, I can install ActiveSky wxRE there. Downloading through ActiveSky the weather files at the office is what I was doing, and then using them in my home computer. Can I follow this procedure also with ActiveSky 2004?Thank you for your attention and merry christmas! :-)Best regards,

Correct!!Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Support

OK, thanks. So I'll wait for purchase till I can in some way get the internet...Thanks and merry xmas.Enrico.

I also do not have the web at home. I have just installed AS2004 on my parents PC and I am trying to download a weather archive. Unfortunately AS2004 is stuck on "downloading wx data from HiFi Data Net...". This PC does not have FS2004 just AS2004. I have been able to fetch a custom station station report for EGLL but that is all.Any thoughts?Andrew

Any plans for a conversion utility to convert all to AS2004 format those lousy weather situations I saved in various AS WXre 1.91 folders I created?

Hi Andrew,Check firewall and internet settings, something is preventing AS2004 from communicating. Hope that helps!-Damian

Sorry Damean. Yesterday I was able to download current weather and save giving me something to start with. I have since tried getting the archive for 20/12 instead of 22/12 which seems to download fine, don't know if there is a problem with the 22nd or my patience was lacking but I am now happy. Last night I was able to fly using AS2004, it's amazing. I had been trying a free program written I think by a member of your team but with these extra options it worked like a dream. Thanks for FS2k4METAR though that too did an excellent job of keeping me going until yesterday.Andrew"If it can go wrong it probably will. If it doesn't then turn it off"
