January 2, 200422 yr Moderator OK - I need to clarify some terminology here - haven't flown IRL for a while but when I did, there was a distinct difference between wake turbulence ( vortices) and wind shear. I have experienced both IRL - the Wake turbulence wanted to roll my a/c while the wind shear wanted to push it violently from side to side.I have now experienced a third problem that *may* be related to AS2004. I set up a flight from KSEA to KSLC at FL320 using AS2004 online weather. At approx the same place in the flight ( after about an hour ) I noticed the wind indicator suddenly jump to 99 and my al;titude went from FL320 to FL610 !!. Airspeed went from 300KIAS to 510KIAS. I had to release autopilot and manually control the flight for almost 15 minutes with severe fluctuations up and down ( not side to side ). Finally I noticed the wind drop to something in the 30 - 50 range and the wild fluctuation stopped. Flight was uneventful after that.I tried the flight 4 times - 3 with wind smoothing OFF and in 3 different a/c(2 default and 2 add-on) - all cases resulted in a crash - couldn't regain control. 4th time I turned ON wind smoothing - same thing happened but was able to regain control.Pitot heat and de-icing were functioning. Are we talking apples and oranges here or am I seeing the same thing that everyone else is.Thanx,Vic Baron RIG#1 - I9 14900K MSI Pro z790 RTX 5070Ti 40" 4K Monitor 3840x2160
January 2, 200422 yr Hi Vic,From my point of view you are experiencing the same. Most of the occurances I see are side to side swings and big fluctuations in IAS but often these are not shown in the wind speed/direction indication in the ND on, say, the PMDG 737.I have rarely seen an altitude change, maybe once or twice and I cannot recall having wake turbulance.Thw sever wind shifts I see are consistant with the description given by Damian and others in relation to the FS9 local weather writes so I am prepared to live with them until those involved can effect a cure - it would be nice if MS actually offered a cure but I am not holding my breath :-)
January 2, 200422 yr Author Moderator Hi Dave - Thanx for the heads up. Wasn't really sure if we were talking about the same thing here. Other than the frustration of having it occur at the end of a long flight, it's kind of fun to see if I can regain control and land safely .Happy Holidays!Vic RIG#1 - I9 14900K MSI Pro z790 RTX 5070Ti 40" 4K Monitor 3840x2160
