(Updated for B87)Hello all!I am pleased to announce that the MR1 beta is now available for download!Note that this is not an official release, but it is recommended for all users (after you have backed up your initial as2004 installation package in case you need to go back). Official release is expected very soon depending on the results of the public beta testing. Please report any problems via the threads setup in the forum for bug reports. You can also e-mail me directly at [email protected] focus of this update was to solve problems found after initial (and alpha update) release, and to improve the weather transitions (especially wind shifts). We have also added some new functionality and options as requested.Special thanks go to the AS2004 Beta Team for giving MR1 a good shake-down to eliminate many problems before public testing. We know we haven't found ALL possible bugs, but we did as much as we could through internal testing. Now we move on to public testing to give it a much more diverse stress-test. Some bugs are expected (hopefully not many!), and we will deal with them as promptly as we can. Please read the included README.txt file for important installation instructions. It is recommended to uninstall any AS2004-related updates (leaving the base AS2004 installation) and then install this update.Link for download: http://www.hifisim.com/as2k4updateMR1b2-87.zip.This post will be edited to reflect changes contained in future beta builds, based on results of testing. Thanks everyone for your support! Enjoy!Damian ClarkActiveSky2004 Revision Log===========================================================------Update 1 Beta 2 (Build 87)- Fixed problem with repeated updating when route-based wind smoothing turned off and flight plan processed.- Improved data consistency of local re-interpolation writes (via increased data checks during FSUIPC communication) to further reduce re-interpolation cloud shifts during AS2004 updates.------Update 1 Beta 2 (Build 86)- Further prevented visual cloud clearing effects by hard-forcing a wx change and associated FS9 re-interpolation of wx OUTSIDE of local station areas. This will cause an occasional slight change of cloud appearance in some areas during AS2004 update, but the effect is minimal and assists to prevent random FS9 clearing of wx.- Fixed a new-found problem with FSUIPC write communications which could cause severe wind shifts and inconsistent wx.- Added logging for FSUIPC write sessions. The logfile AS2004.log will be created upon AS2004 startup and each write session will be detailed throughout the flight. The file will be reset upon the next AS2004 load.- Fixed problem with cloud cover causing clearing when reported as "////"------Update 1 Beta 2 (Build 85)- Fixed problem where when in Global Write Mode, cloud shifts could occur around the local area of the aircraft during any AS2004 update. Solved by cloning the GLOBAL wx as well as localized wx. Some cloud shifts may be unavoidable when using global writes (due to FS9 re-interpolation), so turning OFF global write toggle AND global writes can further prevent cloud shifts if they are a problem for you.- Changed max suppression range to 250nm. When flying in areas of few reporting stations, you may wish to use the upper limits to prevent FS9 re-interpolation from changing visible wx during updates. Remember that using higher simulation rates can prevent the local suppression system from working. While using high sim rates, we suggest setting the suppression ceiling above your cruise altitude to prevent ANY updates during your "high speed cruise".- Removed unnecessary update after flight plan import.------Update 1 Beta 2 (Build 84)- Fixed problem where local suppression could intermittently cause FS9 to clear any station not included in the write queue (appearing as though all local wx would clear during an AS2004 update). This could also cause inconsistent wx especially at the destination airport. Solved by cloning the stations within the local suppression range (writing back the exact weather as reported by FS9 - which includes any morphing/interpolation FS9 has done).- Improved accuracy of temperatures aloft during route wind smoothing- Fixed problem where FS9 would incorrectly set the surface temperature and/or visibility if the reporting station's elevation was less than 0.- Fixed failure of minimum/maximum vis limits to load as saved on AS2004 startup.------Update 1 Beta 2 (Build 81)- Fixed problem with new ActiveRadar update installer- Fixed problem where counter-clockwise wind fix could interfere with route-based wind smoothing, causing abnormal wind shifts above FL330 in certain situations- Added additional winds write to FL500 (duplicate of FL390) to facilitate further reduced FS9 wind shifts when flying above FL330- Added automatic checking of airborne status and subsequent temporary disabling of suppression options on first load (allowing weather to be set properly even if you are not on the ground when AS2004 starts)- Added display of Average Wind Direction/Speed in the Nav Log (at the very bottom)------Update 1 Beta 2 (Build 80)- Updated documentation to reflect changes- Added NORMAL DEFAULTS button in the options page to restore to recommended default options- Added Language Options page in ActiveRadar to set alternate Units (Feet/Metres/Inches/Millibars)- Set destination weather zone range to 75 miles------Update 1 Beta 1 (Build 79)- Fixed baro pressure problem- Fixed intermittent weather set problem which could cause inconsistent weather at some stations------Update 1 Beta 1 (Build 78)- Fixed erroneous barometric pressure problem- Fixed route-based station tracking logic problem- Improved Wake Turbulence AI aircraft position resolution for more precision when AI aircraft are very close- Reduced overall icing for less PITOT tube stuck issues- Reduced upper turbulence process factor- Added Prevent Icing option- Added Counter-Clockwise Wind Fix feature and option to assist FS9 with wind transition processes- Added METAR fetch translation for LGAV (LGAT in FS9)- Fixed route-based wind smoothing direction changing logic- Enhanced route-based wind smoothing to further eliminate wind shifts- Fixed problem with extended-destination wind force- Added Minimum and Maximum visibility options- Added automatic global write toggle to automatically supply global writes in areas with fewer stations- Added Force Destination Weather Zone feature/option to keep your arrival weather in all quadrants consistent with your landing airport surface weather report- Code optimization for better performance and less memory overhead- Numerous logic fixes and enhancements- Added automatic CLEAR WEATHER on AS2004 start or FS2004 connect / reconnect- Added Disable Winds Aloft option to prevent all upper winds- Added automatic disabling of visibility smoothing when above 10,000ft (to reduce cloud image shifts)- Changed default options to take advantage of new features and optimal settings for the average user- Rewrite of the entire winds aloft and route-based wind smoothing processes for increased wind smoothness and consistency------Update 1 Alpha 2 (Build 76)- Fixed route-based wind smoothing problem which resulted in inconsistent interpolation routines for flight plan processing vs. non-flight plan processing - This problem was also related to more severe-than-normal wind shifts, improper weather depiction at nearby airports, and inconsistent conditions reporting when using route-based wind smoothing- Fixed Temporary Data Issue problem when nearing destination with flight plan loaded and route-based wind smoothing OFF- Removed NavLog control box Close command (X) - To close the NavLog, use the CLOSE button - You can then call it up at any time using the NAVLOG button- Added automatic refresh at 200 miles from destination to prevent problems with destination weather settings and route-based wind smoothing- Redesigned Visibility Smoothing feature for direct integration with FSUIPC visibility smoothing - this works with the unregistered OR registered FSUIPC, and results in much-increased performance and reduced cloud "pops" during visibility smoothing steps- Changed default "GLOBAL" weather (depicted outside weather station zones) to match destination weather if a flight plan is loaded (otherwise it uses closest station at time of write) - Remember that GLOBAL writes only occur when you are on the ground, and it will not update again until you land (to prevent instant weather changes)

hi damian!many thanks for that announcement! looking forward testing it!Q: do we need to uninstall the alpha version prior for this update or is it posible to run the beta setup.exe over the installed alpha? can not remember now, if there is an uninstaller for the alpha version. need to check when i'm at home.in the readme there is nothing mentione except: "PLEASE INSTALL THIS UPDATE OVER YOUR EXISTING INSTALLATION(S"thanks!harald

The important step is to delete your AS2004.ini file so that a new one will be generated!Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Support

thanks Jim! will follow your instruction.cheersharald
