March 20, 200422 yr hi,i am still getting the sudden wind shifts that put the aircraft into an overspeed and crash, this ha been happening even after the mr1 update, wind smoothing is on,counerclockwise wind is on.just about twenty minutes ago using downloaded weather(20040320-01z)trying to fly from yyz-yhz at 370,overspeed and crash.i hope someone can help.thanks.
March 20, 200422 yr Hi Tony,Sorry you are having trouble. What is the build number in the AS2004 window in the lower right hand corner? Are you loading and processing a flight plan?Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg
March 20, 200422 yr Author hi,it says build 90,i am processing a flightplan,do you need the plan itself.thanks.
March 20, 200422 yr Hi TonyJust to rule out you don't do the same mistake I've done a couple of times. ;-) Do you fly online with Squawkbox? If so, have you checked the option "Ignore real weather" in Squawkbox while using AS2004?Hope it helps, Mats JohanssonPMDG Flight Test Dept | Asus Z270-A | Intel i5-7600K @ 4.8 GHz OC/H2O | nVidia Geforce GTX 1070 8GB OC/O2|
March 20, 200422 yr Hi Tony,Yes Build 90 is correct so your update went well. Yes, give me the plan and I'll give it a go.Does this happen just on this route for you or with any flight?Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg
March 20, 200422 yr Author Hi Matsno i dont use sqwakbox, just downloaded real weather and was nearing the end of a late night flight.i have not yet had a flight without sharp wind shifts and overspeeds.i am no expert at this so maybe i dont have something set right, but i think i have followed all the directions right.i think as2004 is great, just my a320 dont like .90 mach+.thanks for any help.
March 20, 200422 yr Hi Tony,I have had the same problems as you also. I have turned wind smoothing off. However, I do run the route through the wx engine and I don't seem to get as many wind shifts. What does bother me is the overspeed problem. It is either the pressure change of something, but my PMDG 737 has to really recover fast. Here are my settings, you may want to try them to see if helps any://AS2004 configuration file[General]WindowPosX = 15WindowPosY = -180DefaultWeatherFolder = C:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesFlight Simulator 9ModulesActiveSky2004SuppressionCeiling = 25000SurfaceWindLimit = 10CloudLayerLimit = 5LocalSuppressionRange = 100MinimumVisibility = 0MaximumVisibility = 50IncreasedWake = FalseDisableWindsAloft = FalseForceDestinationWeatherZone = TruePreventIcing = FalseOnlineUpdates = TrueExtendedDestinationWindsForce = FalseGlobalWrites = FalseVoicePlayback = FalseLocalSuppression = TrueStartupSound = FalseUseProxyServer = FalseFogLayerGeneration = TrueUpdateSuppression = TrueOvercastEnhancement = TrueRouteWindSmoothing = FalseLimitSurfaceWinds = FalseLimitCloudLayers = TrueAutoGlobalWriteToggle = TrueCCWindsFix = TrueDisableUpperLayerGeneration = FalseVisibilitySmoothing = TrueDisableMessages = FalseAutoTimeZoneDetection = TrueUpdateInterval = 60VATSIMData = FalseZuluConversion = -7TAFProcessing = FalseEnforceVisibilityLimits = TrueWakeTurb = TrueStartPaused = FalseUseSystemTime = TrueDisableCAVOKClouds = FalseProxyAddress = NONELet us know if any of this helps youCheersBob
March 21, 200422 yr Author hi,this happens on any route,my route is as followscyyz-bejat-art21-art-plb-covan-rangy-bgr-bgr80-cetty-cyhz.i had sudden wind shifts the whole way but when i was near rangy was the one that ended the flight, thanks for any help.
March 21, 200422 yr Author hi,i will sure give those settings a try and report what happens as soon as i can.thanks.
March 23, 200422 yr Author hi again, gave those settings a try but they made no difference, but thanks for the info.could fsuipc play a part,i have been using version3.2,then tried 3.14 with the same results then today i tried 3.12 and got a flight completed.itwas bumpy climbing with some wind shifts but they stayed steady for the rest of the flight.any thoughts, thanks all.
March 24, 200422 yr I'm having the same problem occasionally.Today on a flight from Zurich to Atlanta, in the vincinity of Dulles International Airport I get windshifts of up to 80 degrees at a time, wind changed from 300/60 to 217/58, back to 290/59, etc about 10 times roughly every 30 seconds, route based wind smoothing is enabled, flight plan is loaded. The Nav log has winds of 289/59 at KIAD and for my next waypoint at CSN 290/60 but I'm not getting the nav log winds at all. In the main window, the active station KFDK reports 190/65 but does say that wind smoothing is enabled.Similar things have happened before, but they only happen occasionally.Best RegardsMax (Bern, LSZB)http://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004betateam.jpg http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/800driver.jpg
March 25, 200422 yr *Bump*Just had the same thing happening to me again, this time on a flight from Zurich (LSZH)to Cape Town (FACT).Wind just flipped instnatly from 299 to 206 and a few minutes later to 147. Those directions neither match what's displayed in the AS main window, nor the Nav log or the actual metar. The wind shifts so far only happen on long flights, of 4000 or more NM and the usually start happening in after 2/3 to 3/4 of the distance. Wind smoothing seems to totally quit working in those circumstances, winds flipping instantly, no smooth, gradual transitions. As always, a flight plan is loaded and wind smoothing active.Any idea what might be causing this?I'm running build 90 in the default config, except for enabling online updates.Best RegardsMax (Bern, LSZB)http://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004betateam.jpg http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/800driver.jpg
March 26, 200422 yr What archived weather was this?Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg
March 26, 200422 yr Jim,I never use archived weather, I always fly with online updates. What is interesting, that winds started to shift at araound the same Zulu times in both occasions, unfortunately I didn't take notes of the times of the actual Metars, but on March 24 and March 25 It started to happen at around 2100Z, the arrival Metar For Cape Town (FACT) on March 25 was dated 252100Z, that much I remember.Like I said, I have only noticed this on the long range flights of 9 and more hours duration that I started to make with my new PSS Airbus 340. I never had any severe wind shifts on my shorter trips in the PMDG 737NG.If you or Damian need any further information, I'll of course be more than happy to provide it. I also promise to take notes of the Metar times in the AS2004 main window, if I encounter this again and save the weather.Despite this, thanks again for a great product and for your dedication to assist users, HiFi's support is really excellent!Best RegardsMax (Bern, LSZB)http://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004betateam.jpg http://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/800driver.jpg
March 26, 200422 yr Hi Max,I mis-read your last sentence in your previous post, sorry. Post your AS2004.ini file when you get a chance and I'll take a look.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg
