May 18, 200422 yr I'm flying out of St. Louis today.National Weather Radar shows large storms to NE.I tuned on Active Radar, and there they were.Then.....a few minutes later....no returns!I'm continueing to fly toward them. See clould buildups and lightning nearby.Still no radar returns. Have "refreshed" weather several times. Weather appears accurate.Any suggestions?Glenn D. Willmot
May 18, 200422 yr Global writes on or off in AS?Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg
May 18, 200422 yr Author Global Writes OFF as per your previous instructions on another matter.Moved to Lafayette, Louisian where they are having a Thunderstorm according to US Radar and AS weather (very accurate, today). Still no luck. Will try global write ON and let you know.Glenn D. Willmot
May 18, 200422 yr Author No difference with Global Writes in the "on" position.Turning back "off" and awaiting reply.I have turned AR and AS off and turned them back on with no luck either. It's raining on my parade......but not on radar!Glenn Willmot
May 18, 200422 yr Author Shut down AR/AS/FS and restarted all.Went to Lafayette, Louisiana again as it is raining.Still no luck with any radar returns. May 18, 200422 yr On the AR tracking screen is your present location showing up?Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg
May 18, 200422 yr Author Present location showing up.Posting accurate weather as per ActiveSky.Posting accurate cloud formations as per ActiveSky.It looks like it's communicating with FSUIP. I have quadruple-checked to make sure that I turned "on" the radar display.I'm going to turn up FS2K4 and head off to Louisiana again. It appears that the whole state is under rain, so I"ll get back to you to see if "magic" appearrs.Glenn D. Willmot
May 18, 200422 yr Author Just started FS2004, ActiveSky - Location: Lafayette, LouisianaWeather reported same as National Weather Service (Thunderstorm in progress) and displayed accurately.Fired up Active Radar......Nada.....Nyet.....No Way, Jose.....Not a Thing displayed for 200 miles in any direction. What's wrong with this pitcha?Active Radar reports accurate location, weather, and clouds. Still no green/yellow/red thingies!Glenn D. Willmot
May 19, 200422 yr This one's got me stumped! Right now the only thing I can suggest is a re-install. Besides AS and AR do you have any other software running?Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg
May 19, 200422 yr Author OK...will try reinstall later today.I have Norton Anti-virus running and Sysgate Personal Firewall running along with FS2004 and AS/AR, of course. They've never been a problem before. As I said, everything was fine, and then the radar returns "vanished" while on the same flight. They never returned on ANY flight after that. When in doubt, punt........I'll let you know if delete/reinstall does the trick. Thanks for the time you spent looking at the problem.Glenn D. Willmot
May 20, 200422 yr Author I deleted AS/AR an reinstalled once more. I did find some "remnant" references to WeatherCenter 2 in the registry and deleted.Fired up FS2004 and went to Jacksonville, Florida where they had rain to the NW. Fired up AS/AR, and there it was in all of its glory. I flew in/out of the cells for about an hour and a half with NO problems.I then created a flight out of Minneapolis, Minnesota which was experiencing rain with heavy cells in the area. AS/AR responded with very accurate portrayal of surface conditions/cloud layers/upper layer winds......BUT.....no returns on the radar! I waited for about 20 minutes to see if they'd show up....but no luck.I became so frustrated, I shut everything down and went to bed. I'll try it again tonight.I've been very impressed with the latest version of AS for FS2004. It's never burped once with on-line downloading. Quick to respond and very accurate. AR is accurating reporting location/weather, but it's driving me crazy with no returns.I'm very sure I've removed all traces of WeatherCenter 2 and the "older" ActiveSky...but I'll check once more. Im using the latest version of FSUIP (freeware), but I'll download and reload once more. After that....I'm going to harm something!Glenn D. Willmot
May 20, 200422 yr Hi everyone,I normally fly throughout Europe and the excellent weather from AS has its perfect reflect on the Radar, always flying with Flight Plans loaded in AS and in ther Radar. But, funnily enough, each time I try my Radar in GUAM (it normally always rain there!!! I can have:1. weather pour, low visibility, pouring down with rain2. ASky reporting accordingly and correctly3. NO RESPONSE on the RADAR....!I have never had this in other location. However, as said before, my flights concentrate on Western Europe.Kindest regardsrc
May 20, 200422 yr Author Good News : It appears that the problem isn't just "YOU" (or us)Bad News : I'm getting convinced more and more (especially after searching this forum for "Active Radar") that there is some sort of "bug" that's still there.Glenn Willmot
May 20, 200422 yr rc and Glen,Next time this happens, go to the tracking screen in AR and see if your present location contains any precipitation entry.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg
June 4, 200421 yr Hi all,I had the same experience flying toward a line of storms that appeared in central Massachusetts on the National Weather Service radar, but nothing on the AS2004 radar. Thanks Jim for your suggestion to check the tracking screen.Bruce
