Can't reach hifisim.com - Any ideas for me?

Featured Replies

Can anyone offer any suggestions as to why, since Friday, I am (seemingly) the only person on the planet who cannot reach hifisim.com by email, by AS2k4 to download weather, or by browser to get to their website to download stuff, etc.? I'm at a loss, and my tech support people have issued me a "request ticket" which means I probably won't get an answer from them before next week... Before friday, everything was fine. I tried to send Damian and Jim an email on Friday regarding the upcoming release of "ActiveSky weather adventures Volume 2 - Fly the AT!" which bounced back, I received a "could not reach hifisim.com - the message will automatically try to resend until thursday" message from my mailserver. Then, Friday night, I couldn't connect with AS2k4. Then I couldn't download the MR2 beta update (thanks for emailing it to me Jim)...now I'm stuck. Thanks for any tips!Best,sg

I got the new beta and have dl'd weather on Sat and Sun with no problem. If you try the web site, are you getting the 404 site/page not found? If so, it sounds like your provider's DNS has an error, or you somehow have blocked their domain. Here's the data server for download info:IP: 66.135.34.111DNS: datanet.hifisim.comas indicated by their authentication triggering a caution in my firewall log.

Hi sg, Since you are able to send and receive emails your connection must be OK. Are you on a network or directly connected? Have you been able to access any other websites at all since the problem started? Might be worth contacting your ISP for advice, unless it is they who have issued the request ticket. Maybe your browser security settings have been accidentally changed. You could try setting defaults unless you had already set them up in a specific way. For whatever reason, perhaps you now have a block in your setup for that particular address. Try going through all your email program's settings to see if there are any strange settings. If you have a cable connection a proxy setting in your browser might have been set wrong. Can't think of anything else at the moment. Good luck in getting it sorted out!

I'm on an .edu connection, so the ISP was who issued the support request ticket...nothing from them yet.I have tried to connect via LAN and via dialup. I do get a 404 error when trying to access the website. Access to all other websites seems normal...at least I've had no problems connect to other websites. Even my email to damian at hifisim.com bounces back...very strange. I suspected my internet explorer settings, but since the block happens on two different PCs, and even mac's that I've borrowed, it must be an ISP thing.I'll just have to wait for their response I guess, but thanks a ton for trying to help...Best,sg

Thanks to everyone who tried to help - I'm up and running now. I tried to download weather yesterday, couldn't reach hifi. This morning I received an email from my tech support stating "hmmm...I have no problem reaching that IP" so I went to try myself and sure enough, it's working. I have suspicions that something "got fixed" before I got my response, but...Strange one, but it's working now. Thanks again!sg
