Am I getting current weather?

Featured Replies

Hey Jim,Everything is going swimmingly since the update. One question though..in the upper right hand area of the main interface where is says... Active wx: XXXXXXOn my computer this number never changes. According to the manual, it's supposed to be the 'reporting time for the weather data file in use.' Mine always says 120150ZIs this correct? Thanks,Mark

Go into Options and make sure Online Updates is checked ON. Looks like you are using the default Offline weather file. That weather file was generated last December 12th, so you could find snow if you wanted to!Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg

Done and fixed. Also, while I got ya handy...if I start AS, download weather and quit AS, will it still function properly after writing the weather file to fs9 or does it require running in the background ( with online updates unchecked)? Thanks,Mark

All righty.

Hi Jim,I have exactly the same problem, only thing is, my online updates is checked on, as is VATSIM weather, dunno what's going on, please help. Kinda hard to fly on-line when I have different weather than everybody else around me, flyin under different conditions ;-) .Thanks,J-P LevisCYUL

Hi, Yes I have SBRelay 1.2, FS9 (obviously), Squawkbox, SBhost, FSUIPC (registered), AVC and Servinfo. Basically, your standard programs for on-line flying.I also tried uninstalling and re-installing, have MR1 and MR2 aswell. Help I m stumped !!! :-( J-P LevisCYUL

Hi Jim, I don't know if this matters any, but I had to re-install because I had to re-format my hard drive. Before the formatting, AS2004 worked perfectly. Now it take a REALLY long time (sometimes +/- 5 minutes....without exageration) downloading the weather data, and when it does, it loads the weather for the 12th.Hope it helps,J-P LevisCYUL

Go to Options and see if Online Updates is checked ON. It should be. Your mentioning of the 12th tells me that you are using the default Offline weather file which is installed by default. Or with the re-set up of your hard drive something with your Internet connection is not quite right.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg

On-line updates is checked (on) and I don't know what could be wrong with my internet, everything else on the net works as it should...??????Anything else you can think of? :-hmmm J-P LevisCYUL

Hi,Firewall settings?Proxy server?Anti virus settings?System drivers up to date again?IE settings?Reading that things were very good before, leads me to say it is some kind of software problem but I can't say what.Try this: start up AS without FS running. Click on Download and then d/l current. What happens?Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg

Well I disabled my firewall, disabled my anti-virus, I lowered ie settings to medium-low, system drivers are set-up as per my Dell consultants' assistance ( see I'm not extremely compuer literate, but usually get by......till now ;) ).I tried what you suggested and started AS without FS running. Downloaded the current. Got a box saying it was active but the upper right hand corner still said: active wx: 120150z....saved it none the less and it was saved as 20040629-02z.....tried to load it (even unchecked the online updates to make sure AS wasn't loading anything but that file and, when all is complete, upper right hand corner is 120150z, and the active metar and active TAF are 120200z and 120218z respectively.:-hmmm J-P LevisCyulP.S. After dowloading current weather, at the bottom in the center it says the the current update is cached.

Hi,Haven't heard of this before, but perhaps there is a problem with the data download reference files in AS2004 folder.Check for any file named *.asd in your AS2004 folder (FS9ModulesActiveSky2004) and if found, delete it. The "Latest download cached" message indicates that in the current AS2004 session you've already downloaded the most current wx snapshot file. The first time you initiate a download, however, it should NOT cache. You should see in the AS2004 main status message "Download Complete. Total bytes = xxxK". Are you seeing this message on the initial download? An As2004 re-install may be in order, and in case of corrupt files, make sure to delete anything in the FS9ModulesActiveSky2004 folder after uninstalling via add/remove programs. Please let us know if that helps!-Damian

Hi Jim and Damian,First of all I would just like to thank you for the attention and help you are giving me it is greatly appreciated.Secondly. I didn't find a *.asd file but found a *.asf file. so I deleted that and tried nagain. Still no succes. Then, I uninstalled (thru the control panel) everything, including active radar. Then deleted manually whatever was left in the ActiveSky2004 folder in the modules of FS9. I re-downloaded from Simmarket (just in case my original file on the last download was corrupt in some way). Then did a completely fresh install of AS2004.Sadly, I'm still getting download of the default weather on the 12th. No matter what I try. Even when I try to download current weather conditions, it always goes back to Dec 12th. :(As far as for the cached message, I only get that when I'm trying to refresh or re-dowlaod an already activated weather. So that seems to be fine then. What else can I do? Help!J-P LevisCYUL
