June 30, 200421 yr 1. Shot in the dark: Delete all archived weather files in your AS2004 folder.2. Post your AS2004.ini file please. The frustrating thing for me (and I'm sure for you) is that AS was working fine before you had to re-do your hard drive. 3. Check the Time-Date-Year on your Windows clock. Is it all correct?Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg
June 30, 200421 yr Hi,1. I don't have any archived weather in my AS2004. I haven't been able to acces anything except for the weather on dec 12th 2003.2. here's my .ini contents://AS2004 configuration file[General]WindowPosX = 4275WindowPosY = 7425DefaultWeatherFolder = C:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesFlight Simulator 9ModulesActiveSky2004SuppressionCeiling = 2000SurfaceWindLimit = 10CloudLayerLimit = 5LocalSuppressionRange = 100MinimumVisibility = 0MaximumVisibility = 50IncreasedWake = FalseDisableWindsAloft = FalseForceDestinationWeatherZone = FalsePreventIcing = TrueOnlineUpdates = TrueExtendedDestinationWindsForce = FalseGlobalWrites = FalseVoicePlayback = TrueLocalSuppression = TrueStartupSound = TrueUseProxyServer = FalseFogLayerGeneration = TrueUpdateSuppression = TrueOvercastEnhancement = TrueRouteWindSmoothing = FalseLimitSurfaceWinds = FalseLimitCloudLayers = TrueAutoGlobalWriteToggle = TrueCCWindsFix = TrueDisableUpperLayerGeneration = FalseVisibilitySmoothing = TrueDisableMessages = FalseAutoTimeZoneDetection = TrueUpdateInterval = 10VATSIMData = TrueZuluConversion = -4TAFProcessing = FalseEnforceVisibilityLimits = TrueWakeTurb = TrueStartPaused = FalseUseSystemTime = TrueDisableCAVOKClouds = FalseProxyAddress = NONE3. My windows time is fine. However I don't know if this matters any, but when I start FS9, it always starts 3 hours ahead (zulu).J-P LevisCYUL
June 30, 200421 yr By the way, I just tried D/L archived weather from 2004-05-22 1200z and got an error message: Invalid weather file folder...Please set a valid folder before continuing...Dunno if this could shed some light on the problem?J-P LevisCYUL
June 30, 200421 yr Commercial Member Hi again..That's very strange. It is really sounding like hard drive allocation problems. Perhaps there was a problem during the reformat? Which OS is this? But first, double check to see if you might have any duplicate installation of AS2004. Make sure that the AS2004 icon points to as2004 in the correct activesky2004 folder, and that the reg key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwareHiFiAS2004Install_Path exists and points to this same folder.-Damian Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
June 30, 200421 yr Hi Damian,I did a search on my c: drive but can't seem to find the location of my reg key??????? Where can I find that?-And as for the dual install of AS2004, I checked and I only have one.-I'm using Windows XP Home. My interet seems to be working fine. Have d/l other programs that I had purchased to re-install, and didn't seem to have a problem with them (other than have the company reassign me a new key because of the re-format).J-P LevisCYUL
June 30, 200421 yr >I did a search on my c: drive but can't seem to find the>location of my reg key??????? Where can I find that? From start menu, choose "Run", type "regedit" without quotes, and press enter.A new program will open, do not touch anything as you can really screw your system.Just navigate to the location pointed by Damian and see if that voice is present or not.
July 1, 200421 yr Hello Gentlemen,Thank you for the "regedit" tip. I found the reg key. Unfortunately (I suppose) it is linked to the right folder. As I stated before, I running Windows XP Home, and only have one AS2004 installed. I REALLY hope that I'm not relegated to using the FS9 generated weather for flying ;( . I've been spoiled now for several months. It's funny how you never really, TRULY, appreciate AS2004, until your forced to fly without it.Hoping that you have more ideas guys,Frustratedly yours,J-P LevisCYUL
July 1, 200421 yr Commercial Member Hi J-P,I am really sorry it is still not working for you. We will surely keep trying. FWIW this is the first time I've seen anything like this and it really points to something with the hard drive. I am thinking we have a corrupt file or folder allocation that is mucking things up. But anyhow, let us move this to e-mail and we'll continue troubleshooting. [email protected]. I'll probably send you a special debug version of the code to more quickly isolate the problem, but first we must perform some exacting steps to ensure a proper platform. E-mail me and I'll get back to you ASAP with this information. Thanks for your patience!-Damian Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
July 3, 200421 yr Hi Damian, Sorry about the delay for a response, it being Canada Day and then I started working nights. As far as being patient is concerned; no worries there, got plenty of it, and for AS2004 it's well worth it, I never "fly" without it anymore.I will e-mail you in the next couple of days when I get a couple of spare minutes in front of my PC at home. Thanks again for the great after sale service and your persistance in trying to help me solve this issue.J-P LevisCYUL
