July 20, 200421 yr Hi,What does mean route based windsmoothing, extended destination wind force, use update susspresion and use local range susspression????Why are those functions????PS. wats the difference between using VATSIM online weather or not????
July 21, 200421 yr Author thank you very match SAS.But about that susspresion thing, it's not realistic, isn't???And one last question: Do you have route based wind smoothing option on??
July 21, 200421 yr Hi,Local Range Supression prevents the METARS around your present location from updating. This helped us solve the cloud pop-up issue early on in development. Local weather will still change though. We encourage this to be checked ON.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg
July 22, 200421 yr Well, realistic or not the reason is given by Jim. Since there is no such thing as constant real world updating of the weather information you can and will run into situations where the weather have made some significant changes since the latest METAR info was uploaded. The suppression thingies are there if you want to use them in order to not suddenly find yourself landing with a tailwind or other sudden changes (Jim, correct me if I /Tord Hoppe, Sweden
July 22, 200421 yr Right you are!Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg
July 22, 200421 yr Author Ok thank you guys. Today I made a realy nice flight from GCLA to GCTS (which was only 15 min. flying) and then from GCTS to EDDG (Munster Osnabruck, Germany) I had a great time with this WX. And it's like they say you can see grey clouds at my left and at the right only a bit of clouds and in front of me there were no clouds, so cool!!!!!!!!!!But I have one question regarding GUST winds. At my first flight to GCTS, I had a gust of about 20KTs which was hard to deal with in final approach, but I landed saftely without any problems but that gust disconnected my autopilot because at the beginning of the gust the aircraft sudenly pitch down and then disconnected the AP, is this normal????
July 22, 200421 yr The gust could have been caused by wake turbulence from a previous aircraft. Did you have any chance to see what the current ATIS/METAR looked like? You can usually see if the conditions are gusty by either having variable wind directions and/or variable wind speeds (gusts). Some places have more gusts than others, depends on location and weather patterns. In other words, if you encounter this even if the METAR/ATIS doesn /Tord Hoppe, Sweden
July 22, 200421 yr Author I use PMDG 737 aircraft and I have TCAS, there were no other aircraft in vicinity, GCTS (tenerife South) doesn't have ATIS.But there were Variable winds at that time, I saw it in the METAR report, so that could be the cause of the GUSTY wind, althrough it was realy a gusty wind until 100AGL.Thanks for your help SAS, you are a great help with AS2004. :( ;) :D :)
July 22, 200421 yr In gusty headwind component conditions, you usually add half of the reported gust to the slow speeds on final recommended. This gives more seperation between the stall or buffet point where the nose drops when the relative airspeed drops due to the sudden reduction in headwind, too fast for thrust management to compensate for especially on turbine aircraft. Also a faster speed on final means you get to final sooner minimizing the crosswind drift displacing you off the center line and also reduces the amount of crab or slip required to maintain being lined up.Your landing roll-out distance, of course, may be increased due to the sudden drop of headwind as well because of the faster approach speed.
