August 7, 200421 yr I am having problems with wxRE not updating the weather properly, nor does it seem to download the real weather properly. When downloading live weather, you have to hit the refresh button about 5 times before it grabs the correct weather. Then as you fly from destination from destination, the weather never changes or updates.I'm trying to figure out what's wrong here. I have recently upgraded from Windows 98SE to windows XP and reinstalled FS2002, and Active sky. I've had no problems under windows 98 using wxRE version 1.92. I have now upgraded to windows XP and also went to the new version of wxRE (1.92.4) and now wxRE dose not work. I'm using FSUIPC 2.975 which has worked error free under Windows 98SE and wxRE1.92. Can someone please confirm that wxRE version 1.92.4 works ok?Here is an example of how wxRE dose not update the weather. I load FS2002 and start off at CYYZ, then start active sky. I use wx briefing and enter departure stn CYYZ and destination stn of CYVR.When I hit process, the weather instantly works/loads (every time).http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/87064.jpgI then hit the close button, and wxRE sits like this. http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/87065.jpgIf I hit the refresh button about five times or so, eventually the active wx stn of CYYZ loads.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/87066.jpgNow if I move my aircraft to CYVR, the weather remains the same as CYYZ and never changes... http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/87067.jpgHere are my setting... Any ideas? http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/87068.jpg Thanks RJ
August 7, 200421 yr Hi RJ,I can confirm that wxRE 1.92.4 and Win XP work together. Things to look at:XP firewall may be blocking the downloads.Any anti-virus running?Scan your system for any adware/spyware.Thanks for the great screen shots. Please let us know what is happening.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg
August 7, 200421 yr Commercial Member Hi RJ,You have wxRE set to start paused, so this is all actually quite normal. But since destination force is getting set before wxRE unpauses and you are pressing refresh multiple times it is getting confused. The solution: Unpause wxRE before setting your flightplan, or disable "start paused" altogether.Hope that helps! August 7, 200421 yr Author Thanks for your suggestions, but still no luck. Actually I've never used the "start Pasused' feature before, but only had it selected now because I'm trying to fix this problem. I have zonelabs firewall installed, but have shut if right off. Also XP firewall has been disabled as well. Guess I'll try falling back to version 1.92. What a shame too loose this nice program. I really don't want to go back to windows 98...RJ
August 7, 200421 yr Author Well this bug appears to be with ActiveSky wxRE ver 1.92.4. Version 1.92 and all the previous versions worked fine for me until now. Unfortunately, I just moved to XP and also upgraded to wxRE 1.92.4 all at the same time.... Anyhow, I think I found a problem with 1.92.4.In the past, and through the whole life of ActiveSky wxRE (right from the beta version - I was a beta member) I always started FS2002 first, then loaded active sky. This has always worked for me, FS2002 first, then load Active sky. Now with version 1.92.4, if I load FS2002 first, and active sky (like I've always done), then active sky will not work for me (as mentioned above). The only way I get active sky ver 1.92.4 to work now, is to load activesky first, then start FS2002..Every time I start active sky first, followed by FS2002 I have no problems. Does anyone else see this problem? Or is it just me??Thanks RJ
August 8, 200421 yr Author Anyone home? Anyone here still using wxRE 1.92.4 with FS2002? For some reason, it just does not work like it used too? I have a feeling it has to do with winds aloft data haning up the program...RJ
August 8, 200421 yr Author I understand wxRE is old and their is not much of a market for it, however maybe someone else out there is still using it and might see this thread..What ever changes were made in 1.92.4, my machine don't like it. It does not work..I have now fallen back to version 1.92 and all works fine except the winds aloft data. Oh well, at least my destination airports have weather again..RJ
August 8, 200421 yr RJ,There are still many users who use wxRE and FS2002 or there would have been no reason to make V1.92.4. If it didn't work, this board would be filled with threads stating such. Let's work on getting your's running.Have you tried a complete uninstall and reinstall?Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg
