August 13, 200421 yr I've flown 2 flights with the new beta and am still trying how to configure the visibility in AS & FSUIPC. Visibility smoothing was enabled in AS, but even at FL390, you could hardly make out the horizon or the groung as it always was so hazy. With the MR2 release, if you didn't have the graduated visibility checked in FSUIPC, then at higher FL's it would clear up and you would actually see blue sky. The way it is now, I have to go to spot view and look almost straight up to see any bleu skies, and this was with a CLR condition.I like the beta so far, except for this situation, and it could be just my fault for not having it set properly! Thanks!Rick
August 13, 200421 yr Commercial Member Hi Rick,FSUIPC vis smoothing and graduated visibility should be turned off. In AS2004 vis smoothing should be ON, and you can change or disable the visibility limits (also AS2004) to improve the max visibility when flying high. It defaults to 50sm, which I find very realistic, but your results may vary. Try 80sm....B135, currently in private testing, has some new procedures here to make this even better, (including adding back FS9 haze depiction), but it is still limited by the max vis limits as set. This is due out soon..Hope that helps! Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
August 13, 200421 yr Author Thanks Damian,Are there "break points" to the max visibility settings? At 50SM, it was still real hazy at altitude. At 80SM, it was almost too clear. I tried 65SM, and it still appeared like 50SM. I then tried 70SM, and it was like 80SM, almost no difference. Can I find a "happy medium" between 50 & 80, or is it one or the other?Again thanks!Rick
August 13, 200421 yr Commercial Member Hi Rick,Yes there are break points related to FS9 depiction of visibility. We can't change that. It is one or the other regarding 50 or 80. The break should be around 69.In the newest AS2004 build 135 (still private, public soon), the graduation now happens quicker and closer to the ground, which may yield better results when using the 80 mile setting. The problem seems to be amplified by the switch from the 69 to 70 mile settings happening at higher altitudes (not expected by the user). Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
