September 11, 200421 yr Hi there.I often fly offline after METAR download.I have a question: if i download an archive METAR2004 - 09 - 11 - 08the files.dat will be 20040911_06ZI do not understand why in the upper right corner i read Active wx: 1006 50ZIf i download current weather (h11)the file.dat will be 20040911_09Zin the upper right corner i read Active wx: 1108 50Z (that seems OK suiting 00-06-12-18 timing)What does 50Z means? Thanks in advance for helpingLuigi ;-)
September 11, 200421 yr 50 minutes past the hour.Make sure the downloaded METAR is the active METAR.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg
September 12, 200421 yr Hi Jim,to be sure i deleted all .dat files in AS folder and downloaded again20040911_06Z and again in the upper right corner i can read Active wx: 1006 50Z; there must be an error...Thanks for helpingLuigi ;-)
September 12, 200421 yr Hi,In Options do you have Online Updates Off?Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg
September 12, 200421 yr Active wx: 1108 50Z11 is the day of the month (based on zulu date turnover). 08 is the zulu hour time of the collection. 50 is the minutes past the zulu time hour (as Jim stated). Don't know why the space is in there but on a METAR proper you will see it as 110850.Here is a real processed METAR from another source:METAR KMSP 121653Z 17009KT 10SM FEW200 SCT250 27/16 A3001. 12th day 16 zulu hour 53 minutes past the hour. This is the time of the measurent, not the collection volume time.In the documentation you will find a section or reading METARs.
September 12, 200421 yr Hi, let's make one more test.If i load 20040912_06Z_archive.dat in the upper right corner i readActive wx: 110650Z.This is the problem, the day of Metar often doesn't match (september 11/12). Why?Thanks for helpingLuigi ;-)
September 12, 200421 yr Hi Luigi,There is something that you are not doing correctly. Please list the steps you are using to download and load these files. As to my other question: On the Options screen, does the Online Updates box have a check in it or no check in it? Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg
September 13, 200421 yr Hi Jim1) DOWNLOAD ARCHIVE, then, when i need, LOAD WEATHER and select the file 2004xxyy_xZ. That's all i do.2) Online Updates DOES NOT have a check in it.ThanksLuigi ;-)
September 13, 200421 yr Thanks,2 other things:1. Do not have Use System Time checked On in AS.2. Set the time and date of the METAR in FS.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg
September 13, 200421 yr Thank you Jim but it doesn't help.Give a look at the pic... days do not match :-hmmm And it happens often using different weather files.Take careLuigi ;-)http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/90996.jpg
September 13, 200421 yr Hi,I see what you mean now! I tried and got your same results. It looks like a problem at the server end and the way the archived weather is being dated. I cannot do anything but wait for Damian, and he is dealing with real life stuff. I'll be sure to put this on the "to look at and/or fix" list.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004proudsupporter.jpg
September 14, 200421 yr Commercial Member Hi,The problem is the value used to compute the date in the save process. We are currently using your system local date where it should ideally be using the system UTC date.I will work on enhancing this a bit to prevent such problems.. thanks for the reports!
