June 10, 200520 yr In the new release program, will vertical simulation require removing FSUIPC wind smoothing control. According to what I have read from Pete Dowson, once wind smoothing is checked, no sudden wind changes can occur near the aircraft...so no turbulence or vertical wind sim.Mark. Mark CYYZ
June 10, 200520 yr Commercial Member Hi Mark,No, ASV uses and controls the FSUIPC wind smoothing option when you choose via the ASV options (ON by default). Without this, there would be terrible wind shifts (horizontal).Vertical Air Simulation works great with wind smoothing. The vertical components are not smoothed by FSUIPC, and thus you can and will experience some shear when entering/exiting such thermals or "VAS Points".Turbulence itself is another issue entirely... and yes FSUIPC's wind smoothing does prevent much of the traditional FS turbulence effects. There unfortunately isn't much middle ground, either you have harsh wind shifts or minimized turbulence.Fortunately Vertical Air Simulation gives us a little "instability" back in the air, especially when terrain and winds are involved ;) Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
