June 29, 200520 yr Hi folks, I am not sure whether my problem is ASV related but since I bought and installed ASV (having had AktiveSky 4.5 before) my LevelD 767 crashes and causes my PC to reboot. Very annoying. Again, it did not happen before and I wonder whether it may have something to do with the latest ASV installation because I did not install anything else. Well, I installed the latest ATI catalyst 5.6 but already went back to 5.1 in order to find the culprit.P.S. Any other plane works fine with ASV (which is just great!), flew pattern in the default cessna for hours. without problems. but as soon as I then switch to the LevelD767 the screens goes blank and the PC reboots. Specs: A7N8X-E Deluxe MB, HIS 98000, 1GB DRAM, 2 HDDs, WinXP SP2Any help?Best regardsPhil Phil Leaven i5 10600KF, 32 GB 3200 RAM, ASUS 4070 12GB EVO, Asus ROG Z490-H, 2 WD Black NVME for each Win11 (500GB) and MSFS (1TB), Rolling Cache 16GB, Photogrammetry always OFF, Live Weather and Live Traffic always ON, Res 2560x1440 on 27"
June 29, 200520 yr Author update folks,I finally did a complete reinstall of fs9.1. just added leveld767 and it crashes, too. hence, it may be a graphics driver problem, instead. but defintely not ASV. will try an even older driver and report back. phil Phil Leaven i5 10600KF, 32 GB 3200 RAM, ASUS 4070 12GB EVO, Asus ROG Z490-H, 2 WD Black NVME for each Win11 (500GB) and MSFS (1TB), Rolling Cache 16GB, Photogrammetry always OFF, Live Weather and Live Traffic always ON, Res 2560x1440 on 27"
June 29, 200520 yr I had exactly the same problem after re-installing the LevelD 767.My comp just crashed to reboot. I tried drivers for bios, MB and graphics.. no joy.I was just about to wipe my comp and it did the same using other add-on aircraft as well as the default ones.Anyway, to cut a long story short, it turned out it was a duff PSU in the comp. The warmer weather recently in the UK highlighted the prob. It's just a thought but worth a try if drivers are unsuccessful.Good luck,Stu.
June 29, 200520 yr Author thanx Stu, Here it works (so far). I loaded the 767 and took off at EDDM for a pattern. No problems. Will check further on and report final OK (hopefully). What I did? I deinstalled all ATI driver (components) using the de-installer provided by ATI. Then I installed the old Catalyst 4.5 driver.... Hope that was the culprit....phil Phil Leaven i5 10600KF, 32 GB 3200 RAM, ASUS 4070 12GB EVO, Asus ROG Z490-H, 2 WD Black NVME for each Win11 (500GB) and MSFS (1TB), Rolling Cache 16GB, Photogrammetry always OFF, Live Weather and Live Traffic always ON, Res 2560x1440 on 27"
June 29, 200520 yr Author well, bad news. crash is back. still with reboot. it occured after I installed AVS. before no crash. estimated guess: it must be caused by ASV. Will convert bmp files now and report back. if it does not help I will deinstall ASV and see what happens then. If no crashes then than I am sure it is ASV...Phil Phil Leaven i5 10600KF, 32 GB 3200 RAM, ASUS 4070 12GB EVO, Asus ROG Z490-H, 2 WD Black NVME for each Win11 (500GB) and MSFS (1TB), Rolling Cache 16GB, Photogrammetry always OFF, Live Weather and Live Traffic always ON, Res 2560x1440 on 27"
June 29, 200520 yr Author need some help from asv team: what do I need to uninstall ASV completely? Which files are installed to any other directory but modulesasv? tried to deinstall ASV and SP1 and it refused to completely deinstall. tried to run fs9 with (in)completely deinstalled ASV and LevelD767 and PC crashed. Now I reinstalled ASV again and am currenty converting clouds to MIP maps. Will try to run the Sim now. If it fails again I want to know how to COMPLETELY remove ASV MANUALLY in order to verify (sorry) that ASV is the culprit...ThanxPhil Phil Leaven i5 10600KF, 32 GB 3200 RAM, ASUS 4070 12GB EVO, Asus ROG Z490-H, 2 WD Black NVME for each Win11 (500GB) and MSFS (1TB), Rolling Cache 16GB, Photogrammetry always OFF, Live Weather and Live Traffic always ON, Res 2560x1440 on 27"
June 29, 200520 yr Author OK, here's the default Cessna perfectly flying with the MIPS clouds...http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/121038.jpgAnd here's the UPS 767 standing in EDDM. Will try to fly now but usually the PC already crashed now....http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/121040.jpg Phil Leaven i5 10600KF, 32 GB 3200 RAM, ASUS 4070 12GB EVO, Asus ROG Z490-H, 2 WD Black NVME for each Win11 (500GB) and MSFS (1TB), Rolling Cache 16GB, Photogrammetry always OFF, Live Weather and Live Traffic always ON, Res 2560x1440 on 27"
June 29, 200520 yr Author well, and then it crashed. I am frustrated now. again, please tell me which files to delete manually. will delete ASV completely to determine whether it is the definite culprit or not. maybe I will install AS 4.5 becaused that used to work perfectly...best regardsPhil Phil Leaven i5 10600KF, 32 GB 3200 RAM, ASUS 4070 12GB EVO, Asus ROG Z490-H, 2 WD Black NVME for each Win11 (500GB) and MSFS (1TB), Rolling Cache 16GB, Photogrammetry always OFF, Live Weather and Live Traffic always ON, Res 2560x1440 on 27"
June 29, 200520 yr Commercial Member HI Phil,You don't need to uninstall asv to test, only do not start asv, it will not be used.Your CTD are not normal at this rate, I would check seriously in depht about this.ThanksChris WillisHiFi Simulation Software Team Developerhttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_dev_team.jpg http://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_proud_supporter.jpg Kind RegardsChris Willis
June 29, 200520 yr Hi Phil,Your crash and reboot situation sounds more like a hardware problem than anything else.My guess is that some piece of hardware in your system is marginal. With the combination of the LevelD 767, plus the extra clouds added by ASV, that marginal bit of hardware is pushed too far and temporarily fails, catastrophically, causing the whole system to reboot.Unfortunatly, it can be a real bear to figure out what bit of hardware is causing the problem and needs to be replaced. One suggestion, if you're comfortable digging inside the case, is to completly dissasemble your computer, clean the dust and grime off all the components, and then put it back together (don't forget to use thermal paste on the CPU and head sink!) Sometimes the marginal bit of hardware turns out to be a loose connection.Hope this helps a bit....jim
June 30, 200520 yr Author really really, chris? no module file? OK, but hard to believe since it DID work without having ASV installed. May have been by coincidence, though. will see and report back. phil Phil Leaven i5 10600KF, 32 GB 3200 RAM, ASUS 4070 12GB EVO, Asus ROG Z490-H, 2 WD Black NVME for each Win11 (500GB) and MSFS (1TB), Rolling Cache 16GB, Photogrammetry always OFF, Live Weather and Live Traffic always ON, Res 2560x1440 on 27"
June 30, 200520 yr Author ok, just fired up FS9 and LVL w/o ASV and everything worked fine for my 5 min flight. Left FS9 then without crash or reboot. Have to go to work now and see tonight whether it may bee indeed a hardware problem. but again, no other SW causes reboots, even some other 3D gaming software which I would suppose to be a bigger graphics challenge than FS9... Maybe I should also try to install the 64bit clouds first?Phil Phil Leaven i5 10600KF, 32 GB 3200 RAM, ASUS 4070 12GB EVO, Asus ROG Z490-H, 2 WD Black NVME for each Win11 (500GB) and MSFS (1TB), Rolling Cache 16GB, Photogrammetry always OFF, Live Weather and Live Traffic always ON, Res 2560x1440 on 27"
June 30, 200520 yr Author running fine for 5 min now with 64bit clouds (and I guess MIPS still enabled since I ran imagetools once yesterday?). Will check further tonight, must leave now for work :-(philhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/121057.jpgand yes, it still works. just fired up some other stormy weather....http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/121058.jpg Phil Leaven i5 10600KF, 32 GB 3200 RAM, ASUS 4070 12GB EVO, Asus ROG Z490-H, 2 WD Black NVME for each Win11 (500GB) and MSFS (1TB), Rolling Cache 16GB, Photogrammetry always OFF, Live Weather and Live Traffic always ON, Res 2560x1440 on 27"
June 30, 200520 yr Author ok, the graphic card seems to be the culprit. changed it back to my older ATI 9500 and it actually flies now! hope it stays that way. will sell my HIS Excalibur 9800 Pro then :-)Phil Phil Leaven i5 10600KF, 32 GB 3200 RAM, ASUS 4070 12GB EVO, Asus ROG Z490-H, 2 WD Black NVME for each Win11 (500GB) and MSFS (1TB), Rolling Cache 16GB, Photogrammetry always OFF, Live Weather and Live Traffic always ON, Res 2560x1440 on 27"
