July 8, 200520 yr I notice that the descriptions of sky textures, runway lights different rains, etc are not covered in the manual. I wonder why this was left out.I would like to know about the rationale for changing these textures and what they are trying to accomplish. Is it all a matter of personal preference or one of increased realism over defaults? Why not intelligent selection for sky texures? If one chooses polluted sky what does that mean when flying at 30,000 feet? You see it is really unclear.I do not really know what choosing fixed dawn will do. Create a flight with constant dawn? Likewise for the rest. Why would one want to change runway lights for example? Why choose fixed dawn and not fixed sunset?I guess I never had any issue with the default textures, so why change them? On the other hand the purpose of the weather features as enhancement to FS 2004 is perfectly clear.I am using ICS plus last sky from the moment of install. Does that mean I am using default FS 2004 sky textures or one of the textures from AS 5? One other thing. When selecting various runway, lights etc, I note one can highlight multiple selections. Like two runway lights. that makes no sense. Usually when one moves to another selection and highlights it, the old selection becomes unselected. But if that is a bug, then why can one only select one feature per session? In other words why not a box for runway lights, another for rain type etc etc to be sent to FS 2004?Clearly FS Skyworld seems grafted on, but without any manual for its use.Greg Greg Clark
July 8, 200520 yr Hi Greg,It sounds like you are happy with the default textures and that's OK. Any fixed texture will not change with the date in FS.Some users want to change the runway lights. If you don't, that is OK.If you have not loaded any new textures, then your default textures are being used. The misc. textures were placed in one box because we ran out of room.A manual that describes every single texture, in every different variation, would take years to write and nobody would read it because it would be so huge.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Sales and Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_dev_team.jpg http://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_proud_supporter.jpg
July 8, 200520 yr Commercial Member Hi,"I guess I never had any issue with the default fs2004 textures, so why change them? It's users taste, if you found default fs2004 texture excellent, it's ok."I am using ICS plus last sky from the moment of install. Does that mean I am using default FS 2004 sky textures or one of the textures from AS 5? "I does means you are using Default fs2004 sky and default env with ASV Clouds, if you never previously submitted sky typeenv from Active Environment interface.Sky-Polluted series sky will give you polluted environment, gray, blueish(clouds and horizon)-Day Clear sky will give you Clear environment (less gray Clouds more white and white soft horizon)-Sky Set will always be according to the correct time of the day from dawn to night. For fixed sky type texture, these sky color, will remain the same for all date in the fs2004 calendar but always according to the time of the day. By default fs2004 sky change color by date. In asv we have added the fixed sky type for preference, if users want always to see their prefered sky each day in fs2004. Seasonal sky type are like default fs2004 style, sky color change from date in the fs2004 calendar. You can select one sky typevariation at the time and press the press submit button:For Fixed typeSelect One fixed day typevariation + press submit buttonSelect One fixed night typevariation + press submit buttonSelect One fixed dawn typevariation + press submit buttonSelect One fixed sunset typevariation + press submit buttonYou will have your prefered sky type from dawn to night sky type for each day according to their time of the day.For Seasonal typeSelect One Seasonal day typevariation + press submit buttonSelect One Seasonal dawn typevariation + press submit buttonSelect One Seasonal sunset typevariation + press submit buttonThese sky color will change from each date in the Calendar according to their time of the day.ThanksChris WillisHiFi Simulation Software Team Developerhttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_dev_team.jpg http://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_proud_supporter.jpg Kind RegardsChris Willis
