Visibility again

Featured Replies

I seem to be forever posting visibility problems. Well here is another. Cruising along at 6000ft above Misty Fjords when the visibility starts changing rapidly between what you can see in the two attachments. What gives? Default settings apart from FS9 Haze which is disabled and max vis. which is set at 39 sm.MetarPAKT 170253Z 15004KT 10SM SCT035 BKN065 12/09 A3003 RMK AO2 SLP170 T01220094 56005PAKT 162326Z 170024 14005KT P6SM SCT025 BKN050 FM0200 10006KT P6SM SCT035 OVC050 TEMPO 0408 -RA BKN035 FM0800 14005KT P6SM -RA OVC040 FM1200 15007KT 5SM RA OVC030Bruceb

Hi Bruce,A jump from a vis over 10 to a vis under 10 will jump. This is a bug in FS04. This could be the reason, especially in that part of the country.Edit: I looked at those pictures again and I still don't see much wrong. What is actually wrong with either of those shots? What am I not seeing?Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Sales and Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_dev_team.jpg http://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_proud_supporter.jpg

Hi Bruce,Might I add that this is not a "bug" with FS but rather just the way it's designed.Obviously the vis is transitioning through 9.9999sm which is why the horizon is changing from blue to gray and back. The reason for the transitions can be many, including a nearby station reporting less than 10sm vis, FS9 interpolation, etc. It's hard to say without details as to how far from the station you were, and what other stations were in the area (screenshots of the ASV main screen on top of FS would help identify this). But from everything I see here it all looks normal, you are simply getting changing horizon color. Setting min vis to 10sm would eliminate the problem but obviously is not recommended for realism's sake. ASV Enhanced, just days away from public beta, includes some new tricks to make these transitions better.Best,

The wrong bit is that the display kept changing from one to the other in quick succession. I have had the 9.9999 bug before (too many times before) but not quite in this way. Anyhow things did settle down for the rest of the flight. Just goes to show that, if there is no way you guys can fix this, there is no shortage of things MS could work on for FS10.Bruceb

Hi Bruce,Yes the visibility transition thing is one of the last annoying things we're trying to get rid of! Have you tried the new smooth horizon sky color sets in AE (ASV Enhanced)? These can really help!As to changing quickly in succession, maybe you were near a trigger altitude/visibility ceiling? If you can duplicate this somehow please let us know!Best,
