September 21, 200520 yr Commercial Member Hi,It happend all the time or just today? download the weather from another day and test. Some time if the weather do have many Stratus clouds they will be streched horizontal. Cumulus type, are in Vertical shape. With cumulus, these can happend vey few time, few cloud cumulus type in fs2004 do this, you may have to shutdown fs2004 and restart, it is not related to any clouds texture, dxt or mips etc.ThanksChris WillisHiFi Simulation Software Team Developerhttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_dev_team.jpg http://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_proud_supporter.jpg Kind RegardsChris Willis
September 21, 200520 yr This happened today just after installed Build 360 along with this the sight distance is now a "fog wall" I uninstalled active sky and went back to SU1 and the problem is no longer there... Nothing else on my system has changed...This is my edit... I just tried it again now and same problem clouds look too tall with 360 and with SU1 they look ok also the fog wall is gone with SU1.
September 21, 200520 yr Commercial Member Hi,Please send bug reports/details to [email protected] if you get a moment and can duplicate this again. Nothing was changed in terms of cloud thicknesses EXCEPT when the "force lowest ceiling" feature is in effect, and this might be related. We really need a screenshot and the METAR text in question to troubleshoot. Fog wall.. not sure I understand, there was nothing changed in visibility or fog handling between SU1 and B360. It might be related to the conditions/METAR report or perhaps manual, random or ICS texture submits? You can adjust visibility haze layer depiction with the "Haze" section in AE...To confirm, are you using normal default options? An ASV.ini always helps too..Thanks for the report! Please supply more info so we can see what you are seeing and get it fixed. Thanks! Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
September 21, 200520 yr Hi Damian,Seeing I have used AS for a very long time I refused to believe that something like this would get past the team. I did the following I uninstalled AS totally and reinstalled up to SU1... Problem still there! One thing I noticed was I was testing in the same place... ENTC here is the metar... ENTC 211820Z 24010KT 190V290 9999 -SHRA SCT026 BKN035 04/01 Q1007 4000 SHRASN BKN012http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/127675.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/127676.jpgI moved to the default ASV airport DGTK flew straight out and climbed to FL500 as before... see the difference?DGSI 211900Z 23010KT 9999 BKN010 26/23 Q1011 NOSIGhttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/127674.jpgCould this be related to the place? BTW to be totally honest both these shots were taken with SU1... September 21, 200520 yr Hi MAD,Part of this too may be the two cloud layers so close together. You may be gettings a "double layer" of cumulus clouds. Try with Favor Cumulus checked Off.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Sales and Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_dev_team.jpg http://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_proud_supporter.jpg
September 21, 200520 yr Author Commercial Member Hi,Weird, I am testing this in Default fs2004 manual weather without ASV.-If I put cumulus broken 6/8 at ( cumulus base) at 5500 to 11500 (altitude) at ENTC, I will have the stretch clouds . Any others clouds few, broken or scattered will be streached as well.-If I change ONLY the location to meigs, it does not happend.Use the same weather at another location, you will see differents result. These are related to how fs2004 render or use the clouds for X reason, It should not happend often but it is weird at some location they are streched, Default Asv or SU3, will not make difference since the issue is from fs2004 software replicable anytime.Fly others location then these..there is issue in fs2004.We will see if we can find why fs2004 is doing this.Streched on the first pic, and the second screenshots are "normal" clouds, same weather.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/127701.jpgThanksChris WillisHiFi Simulation Software Team Developerhttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_dev_team.jpg http://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_proud_supporter.jpg Kind RegardsChris Willis
September 21, 200520 yr Hey gang just a little comment about B360... I installed it and all of the clouds seemed stretched... This was with mips enabeled or not I changed fsuipc versions and tried with the render to texture on and off... any clues? Sorry but dont have a screen shot and I uninstalled it for now.
September 22, 200520 yr Hi Chris / Jim,Question is will this remain for the whole flight or will it change when the metar information changes? I'm doing a test flight as we speak... So far half way through norway no change.
September 22, 200520 yr Author Commercial Member Hi,It's related to the (AreaModel spherical earth in Msfs) not metar, Fs2004 have bugs with clouds gets worse the further North or South you go, the clouds get stretched. No matter what's metar, the clouds will always remain stretched in your flight a these area. I think it affect sceneryrunways as well, there is problem at these area.Sadly the only solution to avoid this issue, you will have to fly others area. It's related to the model spherical earth in Msfs, until a new version of Msfs (if Ms fix this issue)ThanksChris WillisHiFi Simulation Software Team Developerhttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_dev_team.jpg http://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_proud_supporter.jpg Kind RegardsChris Willis
September 23, 200520 yr Hi Chris,Thanks for the reply. I figured as much... I just downloaded the new ATI drivers and Pete's new FSUIPC (beta) and the performance with B360 is excellent. You guys seemed to have ironed out the problem with VAS point generation only getting 1 every min or 90secs... Chris is it possible that you could include a seasonal Clear day with smoothe horison for us? Keep up the good work.
