March 27, 200620 yr Hi,Something strange I've noticed.I always fly with online weather. So, I'm at my departure airport, I load AS6, load a flightplan and refresh the weather. The METAR gives me the actual QNH, says 1009Hpa for example.I set this value on my altimeter in FS and i should read the Airport's altitude (definition of QNH) but it's not the case.If I push "B" key then I have the correct altitude for the airport with a different QNH value which does not corresponds to the one given by the METAR.Any Idea ?Stephane Location : FMEE
March 27, 200620 yr Hi,Can you give us a specific example?Keep in mind that there is a bit of randomness built into AS and FS04 where numbers might not exactly match up. However, they should be close.Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development TeamActive Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter
March 28, 200620 yr Author Today at Brisbane YBBN altitude 13ft, METAR of 0500Zit gives QNH 1016. When setting this QNH on the altimeter, I read about 110ft.When pressing "B" key, the QNH becomes 1013Hpa, and I read about 20ft on the altimeter which is the airport altitude !St Location : FMEE
March 28, 200620 yr Hi,This is within accepted values and correct. Do you think this is correct or incorrect? Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development TeamActive Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter
March 28, 200620 yr Commercial Member >This is within accepted values and correct. Do you think this>is correct or incorrect?I'd say this is incorrect. In the real world, if you get more than a 50ft difference between actual airport elevation and reading on your altimeter when you set the stated altimeter setting/QNH then your altimeter is considered unservicable and you do not fly.
March 28, 200620 yr Commercial Member Hi,Yes it's incorrect. If the METAR reports a specific sea-level-pressure setting it should be depicted at that station in the sim within approximately .5MB.I just tested at YBBN with METAR report showing Q1019 and indeed am getting a 20ft altimeter reading with 1019/3009 on the kollsman. Nothing wrong here.Things which can lead to inconsistencies:1) Using "Force constant route pressure"? If so, this is normal, it's going to clone your destination pressure to the entire world to avoid any jumps (which is required by certain fast/high-altitude aircraft models). If you don't absolutely need pressure forced, I would highly recommend disabling this option for the best realism in data representation possible.2) Letting ASv6 first update process complete at the desired departure airport? It takes time for the proper weather to be written... wait for the "Closest Station: YBBN" report to be sure.3) Using "Force destination wx zone" and destination within 80nm? This causes the same problem as #1.4) If all else fails you may have a theme conflicting with the weather. Use an FSUIPC "Clear all weather" command (via Modules, FSUIPC, Clear all Wx button).Does this help?Best, Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
March 29, 200620 yr Hallo!I have seen the same Problem Yesterday Morning @ KJFk.Metar says A30.27 but when i press B it gives me the Standart Setting of 29.92.I think from 29.92-30.27 is a huge Different.Ralf Intel [email protected],ASUS GTX 1080 Strix,Samsung 4K TV Ralf Zimmermann
March 29, 200620 yr Hi,Have you looked at Damian's 4 suggestions above?Yes, that is a huge difference! Was Active Sky in the middle of a weather write or was it idle?Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development TeamActive Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter
March 29, 200620 yr Hi Jim.Yes AS was Idle.It was after a Flight from ELLX to KJFK(PMDG 747F).And after some 20-25min(within this Time AS updates itself 3 or 4 Times) on the Ground @ JFK the Pressure jumps to 30.27 as the Metar shows.I will try the suggestion from Damian on the next Flight. Thanks for your help.Ralf Intel [email protected],ASUS GTX 1080 Strix,Samsung 4K TV Ralf Zimmermann
March 29, 200620 yr Author It seems that disabling the following option works good for me :1) Using "Force constant route pressure"? If so, this is normal, it's going to clone your destination pressure to the entire world to avoid any jumps (which is required by certain fast/high-altitude aircraft models). If you don't absolutely need pressure forced, I would highly recommend disabling this option for the best realism in data representation possible.now the QNH setting from METAR is sent exactly to Flight Simulator, no more difference. Will make another try on another flight.ThanksStephane Location : FMEE
March 30, 200620 yr With unchecking "Force constant route pressure" as Damian suggested it works like a charme. Thanks again. Ralf Intel [email protected],ASUS GTX 1080 Strix,Samsung 4K TV Ralf Zimmermann
March 30, 200620 yr Thanks All,That clears these up.Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development TeamActive Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter
