adding wx stations

Featured Replies

Hi Damian and crew,I finally got some spare cash and bought ASVE. It's outstanding!I did have one question for you though which I did not find addressed in the docs. My hometown airport recently installed an AWOS station, but ASV doesn't get data from it. Is there a way to add the new station or is that something you have to do with future updates? I was able to add the new station in wxRE, but can't seem to get it to do so in ASV.Again, let me say how much I like the new ASVE. You've sure come a long long way from when I was on the wxRE beta team. Keep up the great work!KP

Hi Ken,And welcome back!Adding a station is bit more complex now:1. It must be a station in FS04.2. It must be added on the "program/user side".3. It must be a station the server can pull data for.4. It must be added to the server. All in all it is not impossible, but not as easy as wxRE. The best way is to write Damian at [email protected] this helps,JimActiveSky Sales and Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_dev_team.jpg http://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_proud_supporter.jpg

Thanks Jim!The station doesn't exist in the default airport, but I created a new afcad for the airport that has it. I'll write to Damian and see what he says. Thanks!KP

Would still like to know if this AWOS could be added somehow. When I start a flight at my hometown airport, KRSV, or fly to it ASV recognizes that the nearest wx station (that it knows about)is KLWV and downloads that weather. However, it never puts that weather into FS. I get very incorrect temps, no snow when it should be snowing, etc. Clouds do appear, but everything else is wrong. If I start a flight at KLWV, it downloads and correctly applies the weather to FS. Any suggestions?KP

Thanks Jim! I do appreciate the great support you guys offer. That was one of the many reasons I wanted to get ASV. :)KP

Hi Ken,Sorry about the late response. I need to know if KRVS is a valid wx station in FS9. If not, we cannot set the wx here right now, it will be interpolated from other nearby stations by FS9. If it is, I can add appropriate server entries to get the data to your downloads.. then as long as you have the entry in wx-station-list.txt it will get into your FS.However we're working on something that will permit adding stations like this even if it does not exist in default FS9's wx station database. This will all be available very soon and may make this issue obsolete..Best,

Hi Damian,No, KRSV does not have the wx station in the default FS 9. I added it in an AFCAD that I made for the airport, but the default doesn't have it. Thanks for checking on that for me.KP
