AS6 Use DXT box is Greyed Out

Featured Replies

Hi, just downloaded AS6 and attempted to change options to 128x128. That was OK, but it will not allow me to check the "Use DXT instead of 32 bit" box as it is greyed out. Any reason why? Also under selection details I would like all categories to be random. Is there a way of doing this "global" or do I have to go through each category individually and click "Random All"? Best Regards,Tom

Hi Tom,You need to check the Render to Texture option in FS9 display settings. If the grey box persists then you have multiple display entries in FS9.cfg with a dangling Render to Texture option setting that needs to be changed to RenderToTexture=1 or you can delete the entire line.If this is not fixed via options or FS9.cfg, it can cause FS9 to crash with DXT3 textures, which is why the DXT3 option is currently disabled.Best,

Hi again,You can use the "Random All" in the "Sky Themes" group, which will randomize ALL selections. The "Full Sky Theme"s contain selections for ALL entries in all groups/categories.Best,

Damian, thanks for your usual prompt reply. That makes sense. I had the DXT mode enabled for ASV5 and therefore must have had RtoR enabled in FS9 as well. So I will continue with the 128x128 resolution as always with DXT enabled. I checked the status of the FS9 render to texture selection and found it to indeed be enabled. So, then the only reason it is still greyed out is because of muliple entries for Render to Texture in the FS9.cfg file. Strange, but my FS9.cfg file says rendertotexture=0, so I changed it to "=1". All is fine now. Also, I'm just curious, is it the same idea as ASv 5 where if DXT textures are enabled then the so called "mips" are enabled automatically as well? And thanks for the tip re: the "Random All" selection. I'll do as you suggested. Again thanks for the great support for an outstanding product and the Best of the Season to You and Yours.Tom Stewart

Hi Tom,What we found is that if you change video driver classes you could end up with multiple display driver sections. Then, all the render to texture lines must be set to 1.As far as MIPS, we found that there was not much difference between Enabled or not so we automatically enabled MIPS for all textures.Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Sales and Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_dev_team.jpg http://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_proud_supporter.jpg
