December 30, 200520 yr Reformatted and reloaded windows xp on my laptop. Installed ASV6 per instructions and ran asv6, interface loaded no problem. All appropriate folders are set up for sharing on Main pc and laptop. When I open up ASG it asks me to point to FS9 on main pc and it saves. Then when I choose my options and click the green check to send to FS I get the following error-There was an error accessing your FS9 Path...Submit Failed..Access to the path "DOCNDOCSCOPILOTMicrosoft GamesFlight Simulator 9Texturecirrus_broken.bmp"is denied.OKI never had any trouble sending the new textures across with ASV before the reformat. Please help. I am not sure I understand what mapping means. I do have FS9 as a shared folder and can change files using the properties function for the folder. Thank you. Robert
December 30, 200520 yr Hi Doc,From your FS computer you must map the root drive of the WideFS machine.Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.comhttp://sales.hifisim.com/pub-download/asv6...development.jpg http://sales.hifisim.com/pub-download/asv6-banner-proud.jpg http://sales.hifisim.com/pub-download/asv6-banner-beta.jpg
December 30, 200520 yr Commercial Member Hi,UNC should work ok too... But I am confused by your share/path name there...Which folder is shared? You should be sharing this folder:C:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesFlight Simulator 9 (or wherever you have FS9 installed). Then the path to FS9 folder via ASv6 then becomes simply DOCNDOCSCOPILOTFlight Simulator 9 (if using the default share name).Does this help? December 30, 200520 yr Author Thanks both of you. After fooling around tonight for a couple of hours, I had a problem that my computers weren't seeing each other on my network. I reran the xp network wizard on both, rebooted, waited a while, made the flight simulator 9 folder the shared one instead of microsoft games. Then when I click to send to FS from ASG I got a submit error saying that it couldn't find the thumbs file in the Worktextures folder. If I deleted the thumbs file and quickly hit send to FS the textures are transferred, then I get the error again at the end. I notice that the thumbs file that reappears is a hidden file. Is there a way to make it not hidden or is there something else I am doing wrong that I get that Submit error..There was an error accessing your FS9 path...Submit failed..No files found matching 'C:basefoldermodulesASgraphicworktexturethumbs.db'How do I find out how to "map the root drive of my WideFS computer".Thanks again! The new graphics are great!Doc
December 30, 200520 yr Commercial Member Hi Doc,The problem is with viewing that folder in default windows explorer settings, thumbs.db will be auto-created. This is messing with the processes it seems. Staying out of that folder via windows explorer/browser should prevent this problem. You won't need to map the root drive unless you have problems with the UNC, which it seems you don't. We recommend root mapping for those with problems, to eliminate any confusion/complexity issues with share names and UNC.Best, Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
December 30, 200520 yr Hi Doc,Update with the the link at the top of this forum. To Map: go to My Network Places, highlight the networked drive, go to Tools/Map Networked Drive.Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.comhttp://sales.hifisim.com/pub-download/asv6...development.jpg http://sales.hifisim.com/pub-download/asv6-banner-proud.jpg http://sales.hifisim.com/pub-download/asv6-banner-beta.jpg
December 30, 200520 yr Author Thanks again. Will hold off on mapping since things seem better. Will stay out of the folder! By the way what is UNC? Good night! Thanks again.
