SKY COLOUR Some Ideas

Featured Replies

Let me say first something about the sunset and dawn colours, I believe this latest version of ASV is outstanding and no comparison could be made with other programs such FE.I used FE for the textures and the previous version of ASV6 wich was ASV enhanced for the weather only then when ASV6 came out I have finally unistalled FE.Well I am still missing FE clouds first because their shape was more realistic and also because with ASV seems like they are not focused when flying close ( I am using 256x256 the same resolution I used with FE).I mostly fly liners so I am disappointed with that pale bleu colours wich is really unnatural, using wx-influenced auto-submit both boxes checked, when the metar infos are done I have to open ASG select the only one texture I find blue enough wich is # 25 and then loading FS.So I believe more darker blue textures should be available for the choice, or you could make 2 different sky textures folders one for VFR flight one for IFR.No matter the season or weather conditions the sky above the last cloud layer is all time more or less dark BLUE, am I right?

Hi,In Michigan we get grey skies in the Winter, light blue in the Spring, a darker blue in the Summer and Fall. All of this is really up to your life experiences. We have tried to include as many different hues as possible. As Chris stated, we are not even done yet. Active Sky will always be a work in progress, based on our own visions and the suggestions of our wide user base.Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.comhttp://sales.hifisim.com/pub-download/asv6...development.jpg http://sales.hifisim.com/pub-download/asv6-banner-proud.jpg

Hi ChrisThis sounds wonderful, by the way I am not disappointed at all your staff is working hard and ASV is sooooo close to be 100% realistic.Me and lot of people is complaining for this or that...but we all remember how poor was flying with FS98 no atc no nice clouds and that purple sky or that crazy blue sky even during the night time of FS2000. Now everything is changing...I got crazy looking those screenshot of FSX with reflections over wet runways...mmmm I can't wait!!!

Hi Jim, Interesting point you make about the coloring differences each season. I have never really payed attention to that until using AS products. I think you guys are pretty much nailing it! So for the night and day selections (seasonal options), are they variances of each other, or do seasonal 1, seasonal 2 seasonal 3 etc. correspond to particular months? I am more impressed with this sky coloring now than the clouds - at least for the time being, as it really does add a particular eye candy that was lacking..Neil

Hi Neil,No, I think the seasonal just change by the date. You would get a full rotation every 30 or 31 days. I don't think we are quite ready to do a 365 texture set, but who knows!Mainly, it is the weather conditions that influence sky color. It's not that the blue light changes from season to season, but it's all the "stuff" it travels through before it reaches the Earth's surface that influences the color. Things like amount of moisture, amount of pollution, wind patterns and such.Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.comhttp://sales.hifisim.com/pub-download/asv6...development.jpg http://sales.hifisim.com/pub-download/asv6-banner-proud.jpg
