Consistently wrong runways

Featured Replies

I've looked through and tried all the suggestions but I can't seem to get ATC to direct me to the correct runways. I'm consistently getting vectored to runways with a 15+ knot tailwind, not to mention being cleared for takeoff with the same problem. Refresh and refresh AI seem to do nothing. I've changed so many parameters now that I'm confused as to what I've done and what means what. How should I start from fresh and resolve this issue? I have a registered version of FSUIPC. Thanks...- daniel

Yes, I've tried this and still no good. Often it is only the depature runway that seems effective, so I hit Refresh and/or Refresh AI... doesn't seem to work. I have been using FSUIPC v3.53, and just recently (last flight) I downloaded the beat v3.536. No change. ATC just seems to refuse to see AV6.- daniel

Hi,OK let me ask in a different way! When you are at an airport in FS04 does the correct airport show up in ASv6?If you use the Shift/Z display do the wind speeds match up?If you take into account the difference between true and magnetic wind direction do the winds match up?Does ASv6 show that it is disconnected from FS04?Please post your ASv6.ini file also so that I may look over your settings!Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.comhttp://sales.hifisim.com/pub-download/asv6...development.jpg http://sales.hifisim.com/pub-download/asv6-banner-proud.jpg

Sorry, no scarcasm was intended in the last post. I was quite genuine in saying that it seems that the two are not connecting.When I press Shift/Z the winds are different, though I do not know the difference between true and magnetic wind difference. ASv6 shows it is connected.I believe this is what you're looking for, isn't it?//ASv6 configuration file Build 470[General]WindowPosX = 495WindowPosY = 495DefaultWeatherFolder = C:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesFlight Simulator 9ModulesASv6SuppressionCeiling = 10000SurfaceWindLimit = 10FS9Path = C:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesFlight Simulator 9PersonalAppDataFolder = C:Documents and SettingsDaniel BakerApplication DataCloudLayerLimit = 5LocalSuppressionRange = 100MinimumVisibility = 0MaximumVisibility = 59LastPlanFolder = C:Documents and SettingsDaniel BakerMy DocumentsFlight Simulator FilesAutoVasFrequency = 30AutoVasStrength = 30TurbulenceFrequency = 50DefaultStartupLocation = KSEADefaultGraphicsFullTheme = DefaultGraphicsCirrusTheme = AutoSubmitGraphicsTheme = FalseIncreasedWake = FalseDisableWindsAloft = FalseForcePrimaryServer = FalseForceSecondaryServer = FalseFavorCumulus = FalseForceRoutePressure = FalseForceLowestCeiling = FalseUnpauseOnReadyStatus = FalseForceTstormsWithCB = FalseAutoSetFSTime = TrueIgnoreFSLocationUntilReady = TrueAutoConvertPlanFiles = TrueAutoRefreshAI = TrueDisableVisGraduation = FalseForceRouteAloftTemp = FalseOfflinePlayback = FalseEnableVAS = TrueAutoGenVAS = TrueForceDestinationWeatherZone = FalsePreventIcing = TrueOnlineUpdates = FalseExtendedDestinationWindsForce = FalseDisableAllGroundUpdates = FalseGlobalWrites = FalseDepictFS9HazeLayer = TrueExtendTstormLayers = FalseDisableDirectWindControl = FalseVoicePlayback = TrueLocalSuppression = TrueStartupSound = TrueDisableGroundUpdates = FalseUseProxyServer = FalseFogLayerGeneration = TrueUpdateSuppression = TrueOvercastEnhancement = TrueIgnoreFSReadyStatus = TrueFSUIPCWindSmoothing = TrueLimitSurfaceWinds = FalseLimitCloudLayers = TrueAutoGlobalWriteToggle = TrueRainWithTS = TrueDisableUpperLayerGeneration = FalseVisibilitySmoothing = TrueDisableMessages = FalseAutoTimeZoneDetection = TrueUpdateInterval = 10VATSIMData = FalseZuluConversion = 0AloftPredictability = 100WindDriftRate = 0MaxCloudThickness = 10000MinStratusSeparation = 7000TAFProcessing = FalseEnforceVisibilityLimits = TrueWakeTurb = FalseStartPaused = FalseUseSystemTime = TrueDisableCAVOKClouds = FalseProxyAddress = NONEThanks again for your support.- daniel

I also have this problem, so my solution, is to load the game, let the weather take effect, notice the change of clouds and baro, then go up to the fs in game options menu, and change the time up a second. that will make the correct runways open up.

It's mostly solved now, though sometimes no matter what I do it still won't give me the right runway. But I've become a little frustrated in the course of flying with Av6, with intermittant CTDs and more annoyingly, a loss of ATC on task switch which also pulls down framerates to a crawl.I get this only with Av6 as I've solved all my other issues with add-ons (at least the ones I've kept). While I enjoy flying with the detailed weather of Av6, I'm not sure I have the energy to tackle these other issues, which will no doubt require quite an investment of time. Perhaps I'll come back to Av6 with a further update that may address my particular problems. Thanks for all the help anyway.- daniel

Hi Daniel,Can you give us a specific instance where runways are still incorrect? As far as the other issues, this is the first mention of these by yourself. CTD's are rarely caused by Active Sky. Can you share more details about this? And loss of ATC? I am not sure I understand this. Is it when you task switch out of FS04 and then back in you have no more ATC? And then this causes a FPS hit? The only interaction between ASv6 and ATC is during an AI refresh where we move the FS04 clock 2 minutes forward. After that there is no interaction. This could be a soundcard/driver issue. To be honest, these are very machine specific issues and I don't think any of them are on a "to fix" list for the future. We would be happy to explore these one at a time if you would like. How did you solve it then. I have exactly the same problem, and CTDs every now and then. No issues whatsoever without Av6. I am also getting annoyed at the insistance of Av6 support (and the FAQ that comes with the program) that Av6 is not the cause of CTDs. I have NEVER had any crashes until I installed the thing. I regret buying it already :(

I don't usually get into these back and forth discussions but I felt compelled to interject in this case. Support from HiFi Simulations has been absolutely stellar in my opinion. And, in this case, it seems that they are doing everything they can to help. I have been using Active Sky for months and I don't have either of those two problems. Active Sky does not cause any CTDs and my winds are matched, perfectly between ASV6 and FS2004. I have found that when the built-in ATC doesn't give me the correct runway, it is almost always do to an issue with the AFCAD definition for that airport. Sometimes ATC thinks the runway is closed for takeoffs or thinks the correct runway is to short etc.As an aside, like many others, I think the built-in ATC is pretty bad. I never use it any more. I almost always fly on-line on VATSIM. If I'm not flying on VATSIM, I still don't use the built-in ATC. I do, however, always fly with Active Sky. I'm thinking of trying Radar Contact 4 as an alternative to VATSIM when no controllers are on.The point of all of this is that I think you should work with the folks at HiFi because Active Sky does work just fine so it has to be a specific issue. I have found that most if my CTDs are caused by errant textures in add-on scenery.
