Activesky graphics with WideFS setup

Featured Replies

I used the FSGS with Michael and he is running Activesky on his FS machine and he says he starts Activesky before FS. He indicated when using autosubmit with themes for Activesky that Activesky graphics load together. With a widefs setup FS needs to be running first so that the client can connect. Is this going to be a problem?Does ASG have to be setup differently on a WideFS setup? Thanks,

Hi,No, as long as you share/map everything correctly.Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development TeamActive Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter

Jim,Thank you for replying.Everything is working perfectly. I love activesky graphics. I am using the random for full sky and cirrus theme and I am blown away. I was using Flight Environment and that is a good product (still using the water from FE) but ASG is far better. The IGS methodology is great. The sunset tonight was beautiful on the sim.Regards,

Thanks!!Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development TeamActive Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter

Hi,What Jerel is doing is correct. What I suggested is correct. What you said is correct, except #2! No, ASG will not load all graphics into FS04 if it is running or seamingly running. The key question is does AS recognize FSUIPC running? No? all graphics. Yes? only Cirrus textures.Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development TeamActive Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter

I figured it out. I have all my drives mapped correctly. I started Activesky without anything running. I saw in the Activesky console "updating graphics flight simulator closed". I closed Activesky then I started flight simulator and when FS finishes loading I start the wideclient for widefs (it connects) and I have new graphic sets. ASG updates the cirrus on the fly. I am all set!!!It works for me.Regards,

I know the machines are connected and can see each other, but avs6 always says that fs is not running and it always defauslts to ksea. not where I actually amI mustbe doing something very wrong . I had it running a while ago and now something seems incorrectI am running up todate software and fs9.1All programs seem to be working fine , just not communicating..with each other.. Please provide some feedback and startup procedures. In the past when it was working properly the client would send the update metar to the server, this seems to have stopped working.thank you

I will attempt an answer but I'm sure Jim will be along with an official answer. If you don't have wideclient running when you start AS then AS considers FS is not running. If you haven't entered a flight plan, or at least a departure/destination airport then AS will use the default starting point of KSEA.If you do enter at least a departure/destination airport for your flight plan AS will use that departure airport as its starting point. The way I do it with a similar set up to yours with AS NOT on the FS PC.AS starts up paused.I start AS and input my departure/destination airports and cruise ALT in the flight plan and process it. Then unpause AS.AS then gets the weather and loads full graphics to disk with my departure airport as the starting point.I then start FS and go to my departure airport, once at the airport I start Wideclient. AS then sees FS is running and just updates the cirrus graphics.I then load my full flight plan and refresh AS.HTH

I deleted the older one in the modulesavs folder.I then mapped the drive on the client , to the fsmoduleavs folder on the server but was not sure if that was the correct map, or if it is just to be mapped to the fs or fsmodules folder.???I then entered this string in the avs options page where it is supposed to look for the program, all of this to no avail, it continues to tell me that fs is not connected and cooordinates 0/0... very frustrating.thanks and let me know if anything makes sense here. I have it working perfectly prior to reversing the roles of the computers and doing a clean install

IF Widefs is saying it is waiting for a connection then you have a problem with Widefs.I should ignore AS for the moment and get Widefs running again.Assuming you are running AS on a computer other than the one running FS then there should not be an AVS folder in FS9modules, also make sure you only have one FSUIPC.dLL file in fs9modules.You should have wideserver.dll in FS9modules and wideclient somewhere on the other PC.Once you have Widefs running and wideclient will connect to FS you can then move on to setting up ASv6.HTH
