FS9 doesn't match conditions with ASv6

Featured Replies

Conditions should be solid overcast, but FS9 is showing only the lowest layer of few/scattered clouds. It doesn't look like the broken or overcast layers are being shown. Also, look at the decoded versus reported. The overcast layer is missing but there should still be a broken layer at 7000. I continued my climbout and got to 3000+ AGL with no change. I have the update 4 beta loaded. This is the first time I have noticed this problem. Any thoughts? http://img63.imageshack.us/img63/8006/conditions3gr.jpghttp://img63.imageshack.us/img63/6451/kfitclouds7ev.jpghttp://img235.imageshack.us/img235/1676/settings1wd.jpg

Hi,You have force lowest ceiling option on, so the BROKEN layer, being the first "ceiling" (as defined as broken or overcast) is cancelling out the OVC.I would recommend turning off "Force lowest ceiling".Best,

Hi Damian,Thanks. I think that did it. I thought I had that option always checked, but maybe it got enabled after the update. The only thing though that still confuses me is why the broken layer wasn't showing up. That would have been the lowest ceiling, right? I'll keep testing and let you know if I'm still having issues. -Neil

Hi,Not related at all, but you need to put a check in the Auto-submit box in the Graphics section.Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development TeamActive Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter

If the broken layer was the lowest ceiling, why wasn't it depicted? I'm not doubting what you say, rather I'm trying to understand it, so I can avoid similar issues. I'm using FE for cloud textures, but I didn't think there was a problem leaving WX influenced showing just without checking the auto submit box as you noticed. Will that cause any issues?

Hi Neil,Not related to the issue you are having. I looked at the settings and noticed this, that's all! You are right, if using FE textures you are OK.Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development TeamActive Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter

Hi,A broken layer is indeed depicted (directly over the station it appears). As to why the sky isn't broken in all directions, it depends on the surround station conditions and reports. In this case it looks like several stations reporting clear in the area...Best,
