June 10, 200619 yr Hi,When I press the "B" key it always gets 29.92I it supposed to get the closest station?Regards,Vaughan Martell Best Regards, Vaughan Martell PP-ASEL KDTW
June 10, 200619 yr 1) Does ActiveSky report the airport you are at (or near it) in FS?2) Does the AS METAR show the pressure as different than 29.92?3) Are you sure AS is feeding the weather to FS?4) If your aircraft is not a default one then maybe 'B' does not set pressure. Some of the payware aircraft act like that.HTHDave
June 11, 200619 yr Hi Vaughn,Two more:Are you allowing ASv6 to completely process all weather station data? On initial load this can take up to 5 minutes? What airport or is this with all airports?Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development TeamActive Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter
June 11, 200619 yr Author Hi,Thanks Vulcan and Jim for the reply.I went back and checked default Cessna .. it was OK.Went back to my "saved" flight (Level-D 767)which begins on a dedcent into destination.Found the problem. When descending through 19,000 for 15,000 I pressed the 'B' key. Got 29.92 ... same as previously set for cruise. So, I waited until I was at 17,500' and pressed the "B" key and got 30.02 ... which was correct as reflected in ActiveSky.I most normally dial it manually on arrival and so thought the "B" function stopped working.Best Regards,Vaughan Martell Best Regards, Vaughan Martell PP-ASEL KDTW
June 11, 200619 yr AFAIK Vaughan you have to be below 18,000ft (USA trans ALT) for 'B' to set QNH.As I mainly fly payware (PMDG & LVLD) I always set QNH via the MCP or manually. One advantage of the 737/747 over the 767 is the STD button whereby you can easily set standard presure. You can also set QNH while at standard pressure then hit 'STD' to come out of standard pressure into QNH.Dave
June 11, 200619 yr >AFAIK Vaughan you have to be below 18,000ft (USA trans ALT)>for 'B' to set QNH.Slight corection:Above 18000 (which MS incorrectly use as transition altitude), the correct pressure IS 29.92 inches. It should however be above the actual transition altitude. So, "B" does (or should) work at all altitudes/flight levels.Steve

As I read it this is correct if you are in the States, but obviously for some weird reason it's never been standardised the world over. Personally I think TA should be 20K for the whole world, not many mountains that high up.
June 17, 200619 yr 18K is incorect as this is not _the_ transition altitude. The idea that the whole world shoud adopt all standards from the US is, IMHO, wierd. The basic error is that MS made this a fixed value when it is not.Steve
June 18, 200619 yr Steve I think you misread . He wasn't suggesting the whole world use a US standard, just a standard.
