WideFS-ASV6-FS9 communications

Featured Replies

I just installed ASV6 on the WideFS client. At first I thought everything was O.K.But then I realized that if ASV6 knows where the A/C is in the world, can find the correct weather report for that area it doesn't send back to FS9 the correct weather to be displayed. As this is the end of the day I admit I did not really search in the forum and documentation for any clue. But as there is a 6 to 9 hours difference of time between Belgium and the USA I prefer to send a quick request for some help now than waiting another day. I will look into this more in depth tomorrow.I guess the error must come from the paths between WideFS server and client.Any suggestion ?

Hi Roger, sorry it doesn't appear to be quit working yet. Check your ASv6.ini file wherever you installed AS. As you can see from my ini file, the paths are important, make sure you can manually navigate the proper paths with MS Windows Explorer. The "DefaultWeatherFolder" is where I installed AS on the WideClient. The "FS9Path" points to my local WideClient Z: drive which is mapped to my D: drive on the WideServer. The "PersonalAppDataFolder" points to my local WideClient Y: drive which is mapped to my C: drive on the WideServer. This is also true for the last variable, "LastPlanFolder" at the bottom.Also, make sure this isn't a permissions problem with the shares. You may want to manually navigate the mapped drives and try creating a temporary text file in the destination paths to make sure your account actually has write permissions across the mapped drives. If you get a "permisssion denied" error than you need to go back and make sure each of your shares has "full control" assigned to the account that you logged-in with to run AS.Hope this helps.//ASv6 configuration file Build 500[General]WindowPosX = 8760WindowPosY = 225DefaultWeatherFolder = C:Program FilesActiveSkyModulesASv6SuppressionCeiling = 10000SurfaceWindLimit = 10FS9Path = Z:Flight Simulator 9PersonalAppDataFolder = Y:Documents and SettingsjordanaApplication DataCloudLayerLimit = 8LocalSuppressionRange = 100MinimumVisibility = 0MaximumVisibility = 29AutoVasFrequency = 10AutoVasStrength = 10TurbulenceFrequency = DefaultStartupLocation = KIPTDefaultGraphicsFullTheme = Wx-InfluencedDefaultGraphicsCirrusTheme = Wx-InfluencedAutoSubmitGraphicsTheme = TrueIncreasedWake = FalseDisableWindsAloft = FalseForcePrimaryServer = FalseForceSecondaryServer = FalseFavorCumulus = FalseForceRoutePressure = FalseForceLowestCeiling = TrueUnpauseOnReadyStatus = FalseDisableWriteThrottle = FalseDisableProcessThrottle = TrueForceTstormsWithCB = TrueAutoSetFSTime = TrueIgnoreFSLocationUntilReady = TrueAutoConvertPlanFiles = TrueAutoRefreshAI = TrueDisableVisGraduation = FalseExtendedThrottling = FalseForceRouteAloftTemp = FalseOfflinePlayback = FalseEnableVAS = TrueAutoGenVAS = TrueForceDestinationWeatherZone = FalsePreventIcing = FalseOnlineUpdates = TrueExtendedDestinationWindsForce = FalseDisableAllGroundUpdates = FalseGlobalWrites = FalseDepictFS9HazeLayer = FalseExtendTstormLayers = TrueDisableDirectWindControl = FalseVoicePlayback = TrueLocalSuppression = TrueStartupSound = TrueDisableGroundUpdates = FalseUseProxyServer = FalseFogLayerGeneration = TrueUpdateSuppression = TrueOvercastEnhancement = TrueIgnoreFSReadyStatus = TrueFSUIPCWindSmoothing = TrueLimitSurfaceWinds = FalseLimitCloudLayers = TrueAutoGlobalWriteToggle = TrueRainWithTS = TrueDisableUpperLayerGeneration = FalseVisibilitySmoothing = TrueDisableMessages = FalseAutoTimeZoneDetection = TrueUpdateInterval = 10VATSIMData = FalseZuluConversion = -4AloftPredictability = 100WindDriftRate = 0MaxCloudThickness = 10000MinStratusSeparation = 7000TAFProcessing = FalseEnforceVisibilityLimits = TrueWakeTurb = FalseStartPaused = FalseUseSystemTime = TrueDisableCAVOKClouds = FalseProxyAddress = NONELastPlanFolder = Y:Documents and SettingsjordanaMy DocumentsFlight Simulator FilesAL | KCHS - Charleston AFB/Intl | USAF 437AW (~53 C-17's)FS9/Game Rig:AMD64-4000+ SanDiego OC=210/420/2520 | Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe | Corsair TwinX2048-3200C2PT (2x1GB) 2.5-3-3-8/[email protected] | Evga NV 7900GT v84.56 (1280x1024x32/4xAA/16xAF/High-Quality) | Enermax 550W PSU | Thermalright XP-120(mm) HSF | NV 1GB LAN | NV SATA-I Raid-0 223GB (3x80GB Samsung) (WinXPx64/Games) | NV SATA-II WD 320GB (Backups) | IDE-0 80GB Samsung (Archive) | Realtek AC'97 5.1 Surround | CH Yoke, TQ, & Pedals | FS9.1 (Settings max'd/60-40Vis/No-Shadows/20FPS) | WideFS v6.16 | FSUIPC v3.617 | FSGenesis Mesh (All) | PMDG (All) | PAI (All) | FSBuild2 | EtcFS9 Support Rig:AMD3200+ | Gigabyte GA-7NNXP | Leadtek NV 5900 | Corsair TwinX1024-3200 (2x512MB) | Intel 1GB LAN | SiI3112 SATA-I 80GB Samsung | IDE-0 80GB IBM | JustCom 4port KVM | FS Wide Client | ActiveSky v6 (512x512x32bit / Wx Influanced)| Radar Contact v4.01 | FS Real Time | FS Flight Keeper | FS Commander | AI Smooth

Thank you for your reply. It helped me.Now that is is corrected each time I start ASV6 it says that it cannot find the folders and ask me to specify it with a popup screen. I answer, it is happy and tells me he now updates the ini file. But at the next start up it goes though the same process. It doesn't bother me as it works at the end but I find that strange. Without you help it would have took me several hours to find the existence of the ini file (at least that is what I think).Your documentation and ActiveSky documentation helped me a lot.

When it says that it updates the ini file, answer the prompt boxes again and then open up the ini file right then and verify the entries. Then close the ini file and ASv6. Now check the ini file again to see if the ini file changed in anyway after closing ASv6. Other than the ini file, I'm not sure how else Damien checks for the existance and validity of the paths prior to him prompting for them again during the startup of ASv6. Also, make sure the drive, share, and maped drives are functioning navigatable before starting ASv6. If the WdieServer PC isn't online, you'll probably get the path promots again when starting ASv6. We might have to wait for Damien or Jim to chime in here for more ideas.AL | KCHS - Charleston AFB/Intl | USAF 437AW (~53 C-17's)FS9/Game Rig:AMD64-4000+ SanDiego OC=210/420/2520 | Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe | Corsair TwinX2048-3200C2PT (2x1GB) 2.5-3-3-8/[email protected] | Evga NV 7900GT v84.56 (1280x1024x32/4xAA/16xAF/High-Quality) | Enermax 550W PSU | Thermalright XP-120(mm) HSF | NV 1GB LAN | NV SATA-I Raid-0 223GB (3x80GB Samsung) (WinXPx64/Games) | NV SATA-II WD 320GB (Backups) | IDE-0 80GB Samsung (Archive) | Realtek AC'97 5.1 Surround | CH Yoke, TQ, & Pedals | FS9.1 (Settings max'd/60-40Vis/No-Shadows/20FPS) | WideFS v6.16 | FSUIPC v3.617 | FSGenesis Mesh (All) | PMDG (All) | PAI (All) | FSBuild2 | EtcFS9 Support Rig:AMD3200+ | Gigabyte GA-7NNXP | Leadtek NV 5900 | Corsair TwinX1024-3200 (2x512MB) | Intel 1GB LAN | SiI3112 SATA-I 80GB Samsung | IDE-0 80GB IBM | JustCom 4port KVM | FS Wide Client | ActiveSky v6 (512x512x32bit / Wx Influanced)| Radar Contact v4.01 | FS Real Time | FS Flight Keeper | FS Commander | AI Smooth

Hi Roger,I have been following all of this. Make sure that the network paths are not password protected. You should not get pop-up windows each time. Once things are set up then you should not be asked for anything each time. Our .ini files have always been in the program folder!Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://dot.kelder.net:8080/fseconomy/
