July 4, 200619 yr Hello!i have a problem, i have never had. i formated my hd and reinstalled FS9, no problems.after installing AS6+ASG new on the hd, ASG could not detect the fs9 folder (or something like this). so i had to set it manually in the ASG options. so, i depicted all the textures i wanted to have. ->send it to FS, and the ASG information window appeared, after a while it says "success...."ok, now running fs9 it looks like this, which looks to me like fs9 default clouds, ...i reinstalled ASG+AS6, this time it didnt ask for the folder, but the result is still the same! i am really angry now...grrr...has anybody an idea? http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/152048.jpg
July 4, 200619 yr Hi,Those do not look like FS04 cloud to me, but I could be wrong. A test to find out:With FS04 closed down, submit a set of clouds from ASG and notice the time on your computer. Then open the FS04/texture folder and find the Cumulus1.bmp. Right click on it and look at the modified time. Is it the same as the time of your submit? If it is then things are OK. If not then please let us know.Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://dot.kelder.net:8080/fseconomy/
July 4, 200619 yr hey jim!well, great idea! so i tried, and you are right! it works! and it shows that ASG textures have been submitted. but i tried to change these ugly clouds some times, the result was allways the same. what am i doing wrong in ASG? can you give me a hint, which clouds to change?thank you
July 4, 200619 yr Commercial Member HI,For not confusing clouds formation and cloud texture, you will always have these clouds formation if there is broken clouds 5/8, 6/8, 7/8 in the metar, these are builded from microsoft, not related to clouds texture. The ASG control the clouds texture only not the clouds formation. The things you can change in the ASG is the texture under the 3d clouds texture, these control the "visual" of the clouds , texture are related to color of the bottom and amount of the puff and the stratuscumulus shape control the edge of the clouds only. The sky color can change the color of the clouds as well, if you are using polluted, you can have have more darker clouds, if you are using clear sky, the clouds will be more whiter etc. ThanksChris Willishttp://www.hifisim.comhttp://sales.hifisim.com/pub-download/asv6...development.jpg Kind RegardsChris Willis
July 4, 200619 yr Hi!i have a clear sky. i use AS6, so usually this should make the clouds formation, right? but it really looks like MS :( strange, because i never had this with AS6!
July 5, 200619 yr Commercial Member Hi,This does indeed look like ASG textures, with a thin few/sct layer of cumulus below a thicker one.It doesn't look like FS default, and don't really think that they are ugly, but of course that is all subjective! This is simply a combination of the current METAR conditions, random and conditional influence of AS's interpretation of such, along with FS9's own random influence for depiction, plus ASG's textures. If you're not liking what you see I would recommend changing textures and/or weather conditions (or if using live wx, just wait until things change). Also, if I understand correctly, you aren't liking the thin few/sct layer below because of the small cloud size. This is how thinner/lower coverage cumulus layers are rendered within FS. If there hadn't been another layer reported above this, the layer could (and most likely would) be higher and more "full". There really is no way to influence this via settings with this kind of METAR report, short of limiting layers to 1 but this is not recommended. FWIW IMO the screenshots from FSX show some improvement in this regard!Best, Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
July 5, 200619 yr Hi Damian!thanx for that long answer. so, to conclude, you think its all really normal, i just experience this kind of METAR report the first time? this could be, i have never tested AS6 with 34
