August 26, 200619 yr Damian,Excellent news, your collaboration with Peter Wilding and Ground Environment Pro. Congratulations.Best regards,Henri
August 26, 200619 yr Congratulations to both parties. The simming community is in need for such collaborations.I have a question which is simple: What does this compatibility actually mean? That ground textures of GEpro will be dynamic and changing depending on the weather data provided by AS?
August 26, 200619 yr Commercial Member Hi,Thanks all! We're very excited about this...What it means is that in the pending updates to both add-ons, you'll be able to use all of GE Pro's cloud coverage texture selection features directly with ASv6 active weather data. In addition, either add-on can automatically launch the other appropriately. There are also some other helpful features in both options to really take advantage of all this.To clarify about "dynamic", you still need to submit GE Pro textures before FS9 is loaded, as on-the-fly texture updates are not supported within FS. With that said, you can make all this integration work very seamlessly while having much flexibility in the way you start things up. For example, I prefer to start ASv6 first, load my route, then based on my options, ASv6 automatically launches GE Pro and the submission process starts. After that GE Pro lets me automatically start FS9 and things are ready to go. You can also choose to start GE Pro first. It really is quite flexible... It will all be available in the next few days so you can start playing!Best, Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
August 26, 200619 yr Commercial Member Here's a copy of the official press release:Damian Clark (HiFi) and Peter Wilding (FS Environments) are excited to announce new integration features between ActiveSky v6 and Ground Environment Professional! New collaboration between the two teams has resulted in some great new functionality for users of both products. Ground Environment Professional's unique colorization and weather-based selection features can now use ASv6 weather data in a completely seamless and integrated manner. ASv6 can now also automatically launch the GE Pro selection and texture installation procedures either automatically on route entry or by manual button press. New ASv6 options that affect the use of these new features are also available. Damian Clark states that "It's been a popular request by users of both products to include integration features. we're very happy to have teamed up to give our users what they've asked for". Peter Wilding adds "We've also been exploring other integration possibilities including Flight Environment as well as potential future products, and the future looks very promising". Ground Environment Professional and ActiveSky v6 updates incorporating this new integration are currently in final beta and will be available very soon. For more information about these products and developments, please visit associated websites: Ground Environment Professional (http://environments.flight1.net) and ActiveSky Version 6 (http://sales.hifisim.com/ASv6). August 26, 200619 yr Great news! I've been an AS6 customer for about 6 months, it's just great! :-jumpyWhat are your plans for FSX? Can FSX load textures dynamically?I assume you guys are beta testers, are you "excited" by the capabilities of FSX? Will the fsx version of AS be even more amazing than the FS9 version? Some clues please! :)
August 26, 200619 yr Damian,This is excellent news, but I have a question regarding users using WIDEFS. I have GE PRo installed on my main FS computer, and ASV6 installed on a second laptop using WIDEFS. Will this integration between the two still work as you have mentioned?ThanksKeith
August 26, 200619 yr Hi,We are testing this out also.Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/
August 27, 200619 yr Commercial Member Hi,The only thing we can say is that we're very excited about FSX and look forward to future AS developments using it as a platform!Best, Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
August 29, 200619 yr What excactly is the relationship between GE-pro and Chris Willis' Active Environment ?Will AE still be a part of AS6 in its FSX version?
August 29, 200619 yr Damian,I'm pretty sure I can guess the answer to this, but I've learned through experience never to assume anything. Heh.Will I be able to use the integration feature with archived weather? My guess is yes. I would start ASv6, download the weather I want, set the route and hit update.(I really should go and buy GEPro. I've got GE, but have not done any simming all summer. My RC aircraft hobby gets in the way. But, the RC season is drawing to a close, time to get ready for the sim season. :-) )...jim
August 30, 200619 yr Commercial Member Hi,It's called ActiveSky Graphics, not Active Environment... ASG and GE Pro are completely different, with the exception of sky textures in both which can easily be forced from either add-on through some new options we're including. We're not sure yet if the graphics content in ASG (as well as ASv6) will be compatible with FSX, but assuming it is then yes it will all be there... We really need an FSX release in hand before any major decisions can be made. Thanks for your patience!Best, Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
August 30, 200619 yr Commercial Member Hi Jim,You got it right... the integration can be used several different ways. In the case of non-live weather, it is recommended to start ASv6 first and let it launch/submit GE PRO textures from there. Whatever is "active" in ASv6 will be used by GE PRO.Best, Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
