October 20, 200619 yr I thought I'd come to the weather experts and ask. Will it be possible? Jacek G. Ryzen 5800X3D | Asus RTX4090 OC | 64gb DDR4 3600 | Asus ROG Strix X570E | HX1000w | Fractal Design Torrent RGB | AOC AGON 49' Curved QHD |
October 21, 200619 yr Hi,Thanks for the trip! I think it depends on your expectations and system. Your system because clouds are one of the first things to go away if your system cannot handle the situation.Your expectations because some believe that FS should perfectly simulate the view out their window/plane. Well, this is a piece of software and not the real world. It still is a bunch of zeros and ones called data and data has it's limitations no matter what you do with them. FS uses data and its data engine to translate that to a picture on your screen and sometimes that picture is not perfect. For example, Airport A is reporting OVC and 5 miles away Airport B is not. You are flying half-way between them. Guess what? FS is going to blend that data and you are probably not going to see a fully OVC sky. But fly to Airport A and you probably would.Have I seen full OVC in the past week? Yes I have!I hope this helps, Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/
October 21, 200619 yr Author I don't know much about that what so ever, I understand that 2002 had different weather engine but the overcast skies looked kinda tight. Oh well, maybe in the future again. :)Thanks Jim. Jacek G. Ryzen 5800X3D | Asus RTX4090 OC | 64gb DDR4 3600 | Asus ROG Strix X570E | HX1000w | Fractal Design Torrent RGB | AOC AGON 49' Curved QHD |
October 21, 200619 yr Commercial Member Hi,The "globalized" weather system of FS2002 indeed stretched clouds out as far as the eye (or max cloud/sight distance) could see.The problem was, even though 5 miles to the right things may indeed have cleared up, it wouldn't depict anything like that until you moved into that new area where the clouds would instantly shift.FS9+ uses station-based weather depiction and is far superior to the previous globalized method. But as Jim has mentioned, you're not going to see total overcast out to the horizon and probably not very "thick" of a layer if any nearby airport is reporting anything but OVC as well. The good news is we are actively working on new solutions that can give you a look very close to what you're after while still using and depicting station-based weather zones...Best, Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
