December 20, 200619 yr Might interesting post, jordanal.Yours are exactly what I want - to have FS9 / FSX in wideserver (alone) and all others - RC, AS in wideclient.A dumb question -When you write Program FilesActiveSky(original) -> WideserverFSXProgram FilesActiveSky_FS9(duplicate) -> "FS9 and so on with other programs... is this the fact that you make install of each programs twice, the first install naming it for FSX, the second for FS9, or you get the original install (in Wideclient pc) and simply copy it - all contents - to another folder, created to work as a second install? Don
December 20, 200619 yr Author Hi,No, this thread is what lead to Damian adding the option for an alternate options/ini file. This thread is now pretty much outdated. The steps above are not necessary anymore with the latest release of AS. Having installed the latest release, you only need one installation of AS, then, setup all your options in AS for use against FSX. Then, copy and rename the asv6.ini file to something like asv6_fs9.ini. In the instructions with this release, it will then tell you to duplicate and modify a copy of the StartUp Icon so to add the name of the "alternate" ini file at the end of the "Target" line. So, in the duplicate ASv6 startup icon, you would change "C:Program FilesASv6modulesasv6.exe" to "C:Program FilesASv6modulesasv6.exe -asv6_fs9.ini". This declares that the ASV6.exe executable should use the alternate "asv6_fs9.ini" file to save AS options when running against FS9. Then startup AS and set your normal options that you've used for FS9 in the past. You will now have two ASv6 Startup Icons. The original would be used to start AS when playing FSX. The other, perhaps rename to "ASv6 (FS9)" to use when play FS9. See?As for Radar contact v4, yes, before you install Rcv4.3 beta, copy the C:Program Filesrcv4 folder (in it's entirety / all subfolder too) to a new folder, perhaps C:Programs Filesrcv4.2 (after you rename the copy). Then copy the Rcv4 startup icon (rename it to something like "RCv4 (FS9) and change it's "target" line to point to the new folder location. This is now the folder that will be setup to use again FS9. The original folder (rcv4), after installing the v4.3 upgrade, will be used against FSX. More Radar Contact question are probably best continued in their dedicated forum, a few forums above this AS forum.Good luck... Regards, Al Jordan | KCAE
December 20, 200619 yr Questions:1) where do I place asv6_fs9.ini file? From here what I think is that there will be just one asv6.5 folder, in which there will be 2 .ini files (asv6.ini and asv6_fs9.ini). In Wideclient AS6.5 foldermodulesasv6.exe do I rename it to ...modulesasv6.exe - asv6_fs9.ini like I wrote here? Is it correct? If so where do I find the "Target" line?2) So what I do is copy all rcv4 (updated to 4.2) to a folder I name rcv4.2, create a shortcut for rcv4.2.exe (naming it RC4.2 in desktop) and in original folder I install the 4.3 patch, creating its own shotcut for rcv4.3.exe (naming it RC4.3 in desktop)? My #2 question is just because you use both FS9/FSX in widefs config and it's precisely what I need. Thanks for patienceEduardo

If so where do I find the "Target" line?Yes, in the ...modulesASv6 folder you will find the original asv6.ini file. Keep it and the duplicate asv6_fs9.ini in the same folder. On the desktop, right-click and drag the ASv6 startup icon to a clear location on the desktop and release. Rename (right-click -> rename)the duplicate startup icon to "ASv6 (FS9)". Right-click on this new startup icon again and select properties. Change the "target" line to end with "...asv6.exe asv6_fs9.ini". (No dash, I think, can't check as I'm at work). Run this new "ASv6 (FS9)" desktop icon and setup the asv6 options you normally used with FS9. After closing AS, check the date/time and contents of the asv6_fs9.ini file and make sure it's updated with the FS9 path and selected options. I also renamed the orignal "ASv6" desktop icon to "ASv6 (FSX)" for clarity.>2) So what I do is copy all rcv4 (updated to 4.2) to a folder>I name rcv4.2, create a shortcut for rcv4.2.exe (naming it>RC4.2 in desktop) and in original folder I install the 4.3>patch, creating its own shotcut for rcv4.3.exe (naming it>RC4.3 in desktop)?>My #2 question is just because you use both FS9/FSX in widefs>config and it's precisely what I need.>Thanks for patience>EduardoYes, but, keep the original RCv4 desktop icon alone, still pointing to ...rcv4 (with the new 4.3 patch applied) for FSX. Duplicate the RCv4 desktop startup icon and call it something like "RCv4 (FS9). In the "properties" for the new icon, change the "target" line to point the now older 4.2 version folder ...rcv4.2 to work with FS9. I also renamed the original RCv4 startup icon to "RCv4 (FSX)" for clarity as well.Good luck... Regards, Al Jordan | KCAE
