Tired of the slow download of online weather...

Featured Replies

...when FS is not running?Try starting Media Player and maybe listen to a song you like (this isn't mandatory though ;-)) and the download of the online weather will be like a breaze...;-)

Hello,I made some tests :1/ FS X running in window mode, request "refresh" for ASv 6.5 (was paused) data download is slow! I can read the number of KB changing.2/ FS X running in window mode BUT minimized , request "refresh" for ASv 6.5 (was paused) data download is very fast!! I see only some number of KB changing : it is too fast.Any recommendations or reasons why?

Hi Emile,It's because when FSX window is open it takes a high CPU load from the system.. when minimized it is only a very minimal CPU load. This directly effects what CPU % is available to AS to do things like download weather. There is also the intentional slowing of the processes to provide as much CPU power for the sim as possible and prevent any stutters or lower frame rates. The drawback in throttling is that we are assuming the worst and providing slower processes all-around, which may not be ideal for those without FS open yet or on a networked machine. In these cases throttling can be disabled to speed things up.Best,
