Winds not changing in AS6.5?

Recommended Posts

Set up a flight early this morning.Printed the reports.Set up the same flight at noon (KDTW)today. My FSbuild plan indicated the same exact as this mornings. So I checked the AS6.5 reports. The reports (all stations/upper levels etc.)from noon today are the "exact" same as this mornings flight. The snapshot date and time changes correctly with Wx updates.

Jim,After the morning flight I suspected a problem because I was on the ground for 1.5 hours and the FSbuild plan AS6.5 (Wx) never changed. So, to test that FSbuild was pulling the correct snapshot I opened the snapshot, foung Kcvg station (that was one waypoint in the flight plan) and changed the wind to 300 degrees 300 kts .. saved the file and built the same plan again .. yep, it was loading the right snapshot ... added much fule and time to the plan. FSbuild also had 300/300 in the route report.I noted the date and time on the snapshot txt file ... It must be PST because it was 3 hours behind KDTW time.I shout down the computer ... got a few hours sleep.PC on and loaded Wx.... same "old" AS6.5 Wx but it had an new date and time.I had use AVSIM WxUnchecked it, saved.Download / refreshed Wx ... same problemSo, I had rebuilt with what was supposed to be AS afternoon Wx.

Forget to mention:I am using Force Secondary Server so the snapshot should always get updated. You mentioned on one of my previous post to do that.

The plan is from the noon flight. It was exactly the same as the mornings plan.As far as I can tell the snapshot date and timy (file timestamp)changes with every download (once an hour or so, plus I refreshed AS) but the winds remain the same for erver checkpoint in the FSbuild plan and both the morning and afternoon AS6.5 reports I printed were exactly the same. There should have been changes in the AS6.5 reports.

I did another flight this evening. KDTW-KSDFThe departure AS6.5 Snapshot was 7-20-07 at 2:54pm (PST?)I processed my route in AS6.5 and printed the plan and navlog reports.I did a build in FSbuild .. printed it.The arrival snapshot was 5:34pm (PST?)When I arrived at the gate KSDF I processed the same original flight plan in AS6.5 again .. printed the reports.I did the FSbuild plan again and printed it.All of the reports were the same. No changes times, speeds, winds. There should have been some changes in wind direction/speed in the AS6.5 reports? Right? All of the reports should not be identical.

Hi,What I would like you to do is generate 2 snap shot files a few hours apart and send them to me as attachments at jim@hifisim.com. I would like to take a look to see what is going on within these files. I know it may be tomorrow until you can do this. Also include the FS04 plan.Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-community-sigbanner.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/

OK,Got the snapshots and I will send them in a few minutes. One saved from last night and one from this morning. This morning I started AS6.5 and used FSbuild to do the same plan as yesterday. Just to do a quick check.Still had the same problem: Flight plans are identical. The ATIS information in the snapshots is changing but the upper level winds are not ... that is the problem.

Just checking to see if you found the problem with upper level winds not updating in AS6.5?For the past 30 hours I have built the same flight plan and no change in the winds at flight levels during that time.I took snapshots just in case they are needed.I am sure you could check a few at your end though. How often are the upper level winds downloaded from you source .. like every 6, 12 or 24 hours?

Jim, ** I did see one update in 3 days. For 7-20-07, no upper level wind updates all day. ** On 7-21-07 I seen one update. This is where, maybe, he thought it was fixed. The snapshot I was looking at was 1:08 PST.Then, no updates after that. I stopped tracking it on 7-22-07 at 9:05 EST after my gate arrival KDTW-KJFK.How often are the upper level winds, when everything is working properly, downloaded from you source .. like every 6, 12 or 24 hours?

Hi everyone,Normally the update should occur between every 4-8 hours depending on a few factors. In a review of the recent logs it has been found delays up to 48 hours have been occuring the past few weeks, at random times. We are actively investigating and working to get this updated appropriately every 4-8 hours every time.FWIW for realistic random changes between updates we recommend using the winds variability and drift features.Best,
