December 11, 200718 yr Does SimConnect provide enough hooks so that you all can get all of the wind data you need from the data stream?I'm just trying to get a handle on the wind shift thing. I mean, is it a matter of not being able to access the wind data as it goes to the sim, or,Is it a matter of the sim actually messing with the wind values?Or is it both?RhettAMD 3700+ (@2585 mhz), eVGA 7800GT 256 (Guru3D 93.71), ASUS A8N-E, PC Power 510 SLI, 2gb Corsair XMS 3-3-3-8 (1T), WD 150 gig 10000rpm Raptor, WD 250gig 7200rpm SATA2, Seagate 120gb 5400 rpm external HD, CoolerMaster Praetorian Rhett 7800X3D ♣ 96 GB G.Skill Flare ♣ Gigabyte 4090 ♣ Crucial P5 Plus 2TB

December 11, 200718 yr Commercial Member Hi,Rather than explain all the technicalities, I recommend that you read the simconnect documentation included with the SDK to see what facilities are provided and how we can set weather. We have the ability to set weather at any station, and we can create stations at will. "Weather" includes surface and aloft conditions. The problem is that regardless of what we "set" there are several problematic things that happen inside FSX. For example. Let's try setting the wind, at ALL altitudes, at ALL stations, Globally, to 270 at 30. Now go fly. Notice extreme rapid wind shifts and inconsistent directions with no rhyme or reason. from 270? Not quite. Expect 130, 90, 20, 340, maybe 270 every now and again. Now spend 2 years trying different techniques to get FSX to render its own externally-set winds right, and after about 100 tries and 1000 hours you start seeing some improvements... At least thats how it went for us.Best, Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
