April 23, 200818 yr Moderator For the last week, it seems that it takes a much longer time for ASX to complete processing after loading a flight. I always fly from the same area and have a fast (10kbps) internet speed. Usually, after pressing fly now and getting the cockpit, it takes no more than a minute, usually less, to get the "complete" message. Now, it takes almost 5 minutes from the same airport. Other than adding different aircraft, I've made no changes to my system. Have not installed or tried the latest ASX beta. BTW, I live in Burbank CA so there's no lack of weather reporting stations.Any idea what could be causing this?Thanx,Vic BaronQ6600 G0 CPU 2.4 o/c 3.65Evga 680i A1 with P31 BIOS 2G XP2-8500 DDR2 1066FSB Mushkin 996535 RAM 5-5-4-12-2T320G 7200 HD partitioned for XP/Vista/Programs 2 - 74G Raptors in RAID0 500G 7200 HD for backup SATA DVD burner Evga 8800GTS 640 PCIx XG 174.74 702/1620/792Kandalf LCS case w/ built in liquid cooling 850W Thermaltake power supplyVisit the Virtual Pilot's Centerwww.flightadventures.comhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-supporter-sigbanner.jpg RIG#1 - I9 14900K MSI Pro z790 RTX 5070Ti 40" 4K Monitor 3840x2160

April 23, 200818 yr Hi All,Really not sure. Is it the download or the processing that seems to take time?Might try with anti-virus turned off.I just tried with FSX closed and thing got done in 61 seconds. A fresh re-install may help also. Please let us know.Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-community-sigbanner.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/

April 23, 200818 yr Author Moderator Not at my system right now so not positive on build number but I know it's the latest before the current beta. That's not the part of the processing I was referring to - when I load ASX it takes usually less than a minute to get to the end of the log. My problem is that AFTER I load FSX and select the flight, I get a scrolling message to "wait" while ASX is processing. Then a "complete"message. This used to take well under a minute. Now it's taking up to 5 minutes.Jim - I use AlacrityPC to shut down non essential processes. I'll double check that the NOD32 checker is disabled. Download speeds are blazing.Other than this issue, all is well.Thanx,VicQ6600 G0 CPU 2.4 o/c 3.65Evga 680i A1 with P31 BIOS 2G XP2-8500 DDR2 1066FSB Mushkin 996535 RAM 5-5-4-12-2T320G 7200 HD partitioned for XP/Vista/Programs 2 - 74G Raptors in RAID0 500G 7200 HD for backup SATA DVD burner Evga 8800GTS 640 PCIx XG 174.74 702/1620/792Kandalf LCS case w/ built in liquid cooling 850W Thermaltake power supplyVisit the Virtual Pilot's Centerwww.flightadventures.comhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-supporter-sigbanner.jpg RIG#1 - I9 14900K MSI Pro z790 RTX 5070Ti 40" 4K Monitor 3840x2160
April 23, 200818 yr Moderator <>Ah right, I understand. No, that doesn't take anything like 5 mins on mine. But, if you're selecting a flight that will also load the wx for that flight. And if ASX is trying to install the current wx you have a conflict.Might it be better to show the FSX menu and from that pick your location and date/time. If the wx option is set to Customised it will defer to ASX and you shouldn't get it taking as long.Just an idea. Ray (Cheshire, England). April 24, 200818 yr Author Moderator I'm doing this in free flight mode so no weather is loaded. Tried saeveral tests last night - usually took around 9 minutes from the "starting depiction - wait" to the "depiction complete".Tried different a/c with same results. Manually killed all the virus checkers - no software firewall.Looking at task manager, only processes active are FSX and Xengine with FSX getting about 90% of the time.I'll try a few more things tonight - I have ASX assigned to core 2 - i'll try not assigining any cores and see if that makes a difference.Only change I've made in the last two weeks is adding FSGenesis landclass updates and adding the Real Air Spitfire package.VicQ6600 G0 CPU 2.4 o/c 3.65Evga 680i A1 with P31 BIOS 2G XP2-8500 DDR2 1066FSB Mushkin 996535 RAM 5-5-4-12-2T320G 7200 HD partitioned for XP/Vista/Programs 2 - 74G Raptors in RAID0 500G 7200 HD for backup SATA DVD burner Evga 8800GTS 640 PCIx XG 174.74 702/1620/792Kandalf LCS case w/ built in liquid cooling 850W Thermaltake power supplyVisit the Virtual Pilot's Centerwww.flightadventures.comhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-supporter-sigbanner.jpg RIG#1 - I9 14900K MSI Pro z790 RTX 5070Ti 40" 4K Monitor 3840x2160
April 25, 200818 yr Author Moderator OK, tried several things. UNinstalled and reinstalled ASX and XG including the SP2 updates. Same problem - takes 8 moinutes 15 seconds to get "depiction complete" message.BTW, while I'm waiting for the message, the cloud patterns are slowly updating.Removed registered FSUIPC - same problem. Changed a/c - same. Changed locations - same. Changed affinity to all cores - same.I've attached a screenie of the task manager at 6.5 inutes into waiting for the "depiction complete" message. In this case, Xengine.exe was assigned to core 3 but the task manager image was the same regardless of core assignment.Thanx,VicQ6600 G0 CPU 2.4 o/c 3.65Evga 680i A1 with P31 BIOS 2G XP2-8500 DDR2 1066FSB Mushkin 996535 RAM 5-5-4-12-2T320G 7200 HD partitioned for XP/Vista/Programs 2 - 74G Raptors in RAID0 500G 7200 HD for backup SATA DVD burner Evga 8800GTS 640 PCIx XG 174.74 702/1620/792Kandalf LCS case w/ built in liquid cooling 850W Thermaltake power supplyVisit the Virtual Pilot's Centerwww.flightadventures.comhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-supporter-sigbanner.jpg RIG#1 - I9 14900K MSI Pro z790 RTX 5070Ti 40" 4K Monitor 3840x2160
April 25, 200818 yr Hi Vic,It's something on your system I would say. I have no idea what, but I did want you to know that I am watching this thread.Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-community-sigbanner.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/
April 25, 200818 yr Author Moderator Hi Jim -I agree it's on my system and it's glad to know you're watching.Exactly what is ASX doing when it is "depicting"? Reading files? Accessing internet? Maybe if I had a better idea of what type of processing, I could get a better handle on it.Do you think it could be a video driver issue?Only culprit I might suspect is my AV. I use NOd32 and although I can shut down most of the running processes, there is one kernel process that remains and can not be killed. I don't really want to go through an uninstall but I might just to double check.Thanx,Vic Q6600 G0 CPU 2.4 o/c 3.65Evga 680i A1 with P31 BIOS 2G XP2-8500 DDR2 1066FSB Mushkin 996535 RAM 5-5-4-12-2T320G 7200 HD partitioned for XP/Vista/Programs 2 - 74G Raptors in RAID0 500G 7200 HD for backup SATA DVD burner Evga 8800GTS 640 PCIx XG 174.74 702/1620/792Kandalf LCS case w/ built in liquid cooling 850W Thermaltake power supplyVisit the Virtual Pilot's Centerwww.flightadventures.comhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-supporter-sigbanner.jpg RIG#1 - I9 14900K MSI Pro z790 RTX 5070Ti 40" 4K Monitor 3840x2160
April 26, 200818 yr Author Moderator OK - more info - disabled and killed the ekern service for Nod32 - no effect.Set up a simconnect log - portion is attached as text file. The actual file is over 5mb - did my usual and it took almost 9 minutes to get the depiction complete message.I noticed that there are entries like this:> 621.80871 [125, 3008]WeatherSetObservation:Seconds=10, szMETAR="KCSL 252356Z 31016KT&D457NM 32514KT&A3582NG 32533KT&A9068NG 27146KT&A14859NG 53KM&B-2000&D25000 1CI322&CI000FNVN000N 21/01 16/04&A838 13/01&A1753 10/M02&A2667 00/M12&A3582 M13/M25&A5410 M26/M38&A7239 M43/M55&A9068 M52/M64&A10287 M64/M76&A11811 M66/M78&A13335 M61/M73&A14859 A3008"followed by more stuff and then another of the "WeathterSetObservation" lines. This pattern repeated hundreds of times, each time with a different METAR. It looked like it was trying to load the whole world, if that makes any sense. My starting point is KBUR.If you want the complete log file, I have saved it.Also, if a reinstall of simconnect is necessary, what are the steps if you're running SP2/Acceleration as I am?Thanx,VicQ6600 G0 CPU 2.4 o/c 3.65Evga 680i A1 with P31 BIOS 2G XP2-8500 DDR2 1066FSB Mushkin 996535 RAM 5-5-4-12-2T320G 7200 HD partitioned for XP/Vista/Programs 2 - 74G Raptors in RAID0 500G 7200 HD for backup SATA DVD burner Evga 8800GTS 640 PCIx XG 174.74 702/1620/792Kandalf LCS case w/ built in liquid cooling 850W Thermaltake power supplyVisit the Virtual Pilot's Centerwww.flightadventures.comhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-supporter-sigbanner.jpg RIG#1 - I9 14900K MSI Pro z790 RTX 5070Ti 40" 4K Monitor 3840x2160
April 26, 200818 yr Hi Vic,Try a different starting point and see, one with less airports in the area.Use the Control Panel to remove Acceleration. There will be MFSX: Acceleration listed.Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-community-sigbanner.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/
April 26, 200818 yr Author Moderator Well, after a lot of trial and error, I finally nailed down the culprit. Don't know WHY but the Remote Access Connection Manager service must be stopped. If it's running it takes between 8 & 9 minutes to get a "depiction complete" message. With it stopped - almost instantaneous. Tried several locations with reboots between changes and problem is easily reproducible *on my system*.Maybe it will help someone else with the issue.Thanx for the suggestions, Jim - now I can get back to flying!VicQ6600 G0 CPU 2.4 o/c 3.65Evga 680i A1 with P31 BIOS 2G XP2-8500 DDR2 1066FSB Mushkin 996535 RAM 5-5-4-12-2T320G 7200 HD partitioned for XP/Vista/Programs 2 - 74G Raptors in RAID0 500G 7200 HD for backup SATA DVD burner Evga 8800GTS 640 PCIx XG 174.74 702/1620/792Kandalf LCS case w/ built in liquid cooling 850W Thermaltake power supplyVisit the Virtual Pilot's Centerwww.flightadventures.comhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-supporter-sigbanner.jpg RIG#1 - I9 14900K MSI Pro z790 RTX 5070Ti 40" 4K Monitor 3840x2160
