August 1, 200817 yr I just got a new computer with Windows Vista Home Premium. My computer is high end, with a Nvidia GeForce 8800 video card. When running Active Sky, I keep getting an error message that says "Error accessing internal components (Unencrypt Step 4 -." and it tells me to run the repair option in the setup.exe process to fix this. I have done this several times, and keep getting the same thing. Any way to fix this? Greg Goodavish
August 1, 200817 yr Commercial Member Hi,There is a known issue with some virus/antispyware programs that falsely identify ASv6's CHILKATZIP .zip handler component as spyware. When these files are deleted automatically by such software, ASv6 can no longer unencrypt/decompress the weather downloads.Which AV/AntiSpyware package are you running? Updating to a new version may solve the problem, or you can configure such software to ignore ASv6 and/or CHILKATZIP. FWIW this is a very common issue with many different VALID software modules that are not spyware, and incorrectly labeled as such. A search for CHILKATZIP should yield plenty of interesting reading. Essentially, many antispyware software vendors are not going a good job in keep their data accurate. After you've solved the AV/AntiSpyware issue, please try another repair (or a reinstall as last resort) and you should be fixed. Let us know!Best, Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
August 16, 200817 yr I've also had the same problem and have tried every option above and more but the same msg still appears and ASv6.5 refuses to display any wx in FS. I guess that's all I can do. Seems like a nice product from the reviews but I guess I'll never know. Jon Stevens.
August 16, 200817 yr Hi Jon,What anti-virus program do you use? I don't think there has ever been a user who could not work around this after disabling their anti-virus. Please let us know and we'll attempt to help you out.Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-community-sigbanner.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/
August 16, 200817 yr Spyware Doctor, registered version. I tried it again, installed the AS uipdate and it works. But I noticed the wx doesn't seem to match what the METAR website says. Maybe I did something wrong somewhere? The msg still appears though. It looks like everytime it updates itself from a new wx station, FS goes back to desktop when the msg appears. I just have to click to go back to FS that's all. Not ideal, but at least it kinda works!jon stevens.

August 18, 200817 yr All those are checked. While it's the 18th, AS is still giving me the 16th. A little strange.Still not sure what to do about the AV msg thing. It's bearable I guess.Appreciate the help anyway, Jim.Jon.
August 18, 200817 yr Hi,Turn TAF Processing Off. That could be why you are getting old data. The servers and data are up to date, as I just checked.Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-community-sigbanner.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/
August 23, 200817 yr It now works after again re-installing - with spyware turned off and allowing it to ignore AS. And I need to start AS by running it as administrator. Ah Vista!I knew it was more simple then I thought! :-shyJim? Please ignore my post in the Fs9 forum about trying to get it to work along with Flight Environment. AS definately ISN'T a junk program! But after trying everything, I thought it would never work and was at a loss. Now it does and it's fantastic.Appreciate your help and support here very much. I'll be spreading the word!Jon.
August 23, 200817 yr Hi,Thank-you so very much for trying again! If you haven't already, please add this experience to that FS 9 forum thread.Thanks!!Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-community-sigbanner.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/
