August 11, 200817 yr Hello,I've noticed this problem in FSX (SP2) recently (under winxp). In vanilla condition the light cast by TAXI/LANDING lights of the stock and add-on aircrafts appear MUCH brighter before the first ASX/GX weather update. I tried different themes, but something obviously doesn't work out right. It looks like the first wx-influenced gfx update by ASX/GX almost kills the taxi/landing lights. Judge yourselves in the screenshots below. For the sake of experiment, I replaced my current FSX SP2 folder with my VANILLA FSX SP2 backup folder and replaced pertinent FSX's folder and files in Documents and Settings. I played with different themes but the result is the same.Below is the first vanilla run of FSX with the stock Lear and FT's E-170 before applying first weather update. The lights here I consider as normal:more to follow...
August 11, 200817 yr Author Please see what happens after the first ASX/GX update:What is wrong there? Also I don't like at all that colour banding and 256 bit-like colour tint in the night lights in FSX. I also have FS9 installed here, with AS6.5 and GE and no problems with the night lights colours.Thanks.
August 11, 200817 yr Hi,It is a FSX issue. Please try the X Graphics Beta pinned at the top of this forum. There are some fixed textures there.Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-community-sigbanner.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/
August 11, 200817 yr Commercial Member Hi,-Make sure your display in fsx is in 32 bit and not 16 bit.-For taxirunway lights in fsx, when light bloom is on, lights does have more contrast, if disabled, less contrast.-You can increase a bit the size of taxi or runways lights to have more contrast to them as well, in the fsx.cfg-The lights illuminate reflect the ground, there is different intensity, Be aware for 3rd party addons aicraft, you must use most of the time the landing light set created for 3rd party addons in the xg landing lights selection. 3rd party aircraft landing night use their own intensity light via their model and they are created with default fsx model landing lights textureto select this, go to light & soundlanding light, and select 3rd party landing night, if you use wx influenced, your landing light will be changed with time again, to prevent wx influenced change your last landing light selection, you have to uncheck in optionadvanced install option, uncheck landing lights.Close xg after.ThanksChris Willishttp://www.hifisim.comhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-dev-sigbanner.jpg Kind RegardsChris Willis

I'll try the beta and I'll uncheck the landing lights option. Hmm, do I need to reinstall my add-on aircraft btw? How can I get the original, 'working' landing lts textures? Because the landing lts of the default LearJet are also affected. How can I recover the original LL textures in my main FSX install? Mere unchecking the wx-influenced landing lights option in ASX/GX won't resurrect them in FSX. Of course my display is 32-bit, bloom off,I checked that first.Dirk.
