Auto Pilot

Featured Replies

I 'm getting very frustrated with the Auto pilot. According to manual, when I want to set heading, I press CTL H. When I press that the AC always turns left and fly head of 20 degress. I manually bring it back around to correct Flt plan course press heading hold and it goes right back to 20 degress left. Have I missed something in the manual??Bill M

Hi Bill,Are you turning the AP master switch on (Ctrl + Z) first? I can't duplicate what you are seeing. After turning on the master AP switch, when I set up a heading I want to lock on, then hit the Ctrl+H keys, I get a little wing waggle, then the plane settles on the course I was holding when it was engaged. What you need to keep in mind is, BT does not have an AP installed - and I'm talking about the sim, here. There is no auto pilot gauge in the package. All we have done is enable the FS autopilot functions in the aircraft.cfg, which allows you to use the FS AP key commands. So there really isn't an AP gauge that can be at fault, if you understand what I'm getting at. Take a look in the Options/Controls/Assignment menu and make sure your AP key commands are set as the default ones. Any other ideas, anyone? Yes Sir the auto pilot master is engaged. I can control ALT and pitch without any problems. When I activate heading hold, I se the normal wing waggle. Then it turns left and heads 20 degres.

Do you have any other packages (e.g. FS Navigator) that could be sending the autopilot commands to steer 020 all the time? What happens when you try the same thing in a default aircraft?I can't duplicate this fault either. It's working fine on two PCs for me. :-hmmmIan P.:-halo

Thank you Sir for getting back,I found out that my problem was the realism settings. The gyro was set to max, which was causing the AC to drift when AP was engaged. By pressing the "D" key put the AC back on course.Bill M

Aha! Well, that's a new one, I have to say.I actually fly with the gyro drift option turned off these days - the FS DI gyro does seem to lose correlation with the compass extremely quickly compared to any real aircraft I have flown.Glad you have got it working though.Ian P.:-halo

I had the same thing happen, and found the same solution...but it did seem to happen too quickly, and I'm turning off my gyro drift, too.
