March 27, 200323 yr Commercial Member Don Smith volunteered to convert the BT docs into Adobe PDF format for us, and I have just uploaded the BT user's manual for anyone who wants a more printable version. http://www.fssupport.com/maam_sim/BT_manual.pdfOne caution - the Table of Contents and other bookmarks from the html version in the PDF document do not take you to the right places. It's 113 pages and I recommend 150% magnification for reading it. I have not tried printing it, but if anyone has further recommendations about that, please post the information here.If you do not have the free PDF reader, get it from the Adobe website.Don has also converted the varoius documents from the Multi-Media CD, but I'm not going to post those, free, obviously! Many thanks to Don, who describes himself this way: Flight sim addict Computer abuser Harley owner/rider Former certified A/P mechanic Former A/C Aircrew Egress Tech with Air GuardDoes that last one mean he throws pilots off airplanes? ;-) Bill Rambow MAAM-SIM - Rambow, Visser, Banting, and Younghttp://www.fssupport.com/maam_sim/maamsim_logo.gif Bill Rambow MAAM-SIM www.maam.org
March 30, 200323 yr Author Commercial Member Hi Alastair,You've lost me... The PDF conversion that Don did *is* the Acrobat format. Am I missing something?Bill Rambow MAAM-SIM - Rambow, Visser, Banting, and Younghttp://www.fssupport.com/maam_sim/maamsim_logo.gif Bill Rambow MAAM-SIM www.maam.org
March 30, 200323 yr Hi Bill,The only difference is that Don has produced a literal copy of the HTML document, with the page breaks falling where they do, wheras I used Word to adjust the image sizes and manually imposed logical page breaks with a view to how the printed document would look. Just as an example, my Table of Contents fits onto one page rather than wrapping onto a second. As such my version runs to 89 pages. The contents are of course identical (I wouldn't think of changing anything there !) with the sole exceptions that I omitted your asterisk text separators and changed much of the text from dark blue to black, again due to printing considerations. Other than this I wanted to retain the "look and feel" of the original. In fact I very nearly offered to let you have a copy of my printable document but, as you were clearly happy with providing the HTML version only, I decided not to impose ! Bottom line - in whatever format it exists you've produced a superb reference manual, and I wouldn't want you to feel that I've "trod on your toes" by making the adjustments that I have. Best wishes,Alastair
March 30, 200323 yr Author Commercial Member Ah! OK, gotcha. On the contrary, I do not think this is toe treading ;-) If you would like to upload your version so people can make use of it, please do. If you need a facility for that, send it to me and I'll put it up on our support site. Otherwise, just post the URL here and users can choose which version they wish to use. Of course, we can't have people posting any of the non-free files, like the conversions of the multi-media CD manuals that Don did, but the free manual is a different story.Bill Rambow MAAM-SIM - Rambow, Visser, Banting, and Younghttp://www.fssupport.com/maam_sim/maamsim_logo.gif Bill Rambow MAAM-SIM www.maam.org
April 13, 200323 yr Personally I prefer the printed version to an HTML document (superb though Bill's guide is !) so I transcribed it into Word and then converted it to an 89-page, 12.1Mb Acrobat file, which I then had printed. The advantage of this method is that I could adjust the document specifically for printing, and the Acrobat format allows for both the US Letter and European A4 paper sizes.I attach two screenshots as an example. If Bill is interested I can e-mail him a copy of the file for comparison.Cheers,Alastair
