April 8, 200323 yr I reformatted and i must have a patch or something missing with this most incredible Goony. I phoned right to the musium from Canada and ordered the C.D to contribute. It was fine but now. i can't get the door closed can't switch to the right seat to set my sq. code when online when the gear goes up i can't hear the 'Gear rising " voice and can't click on the place cards on the dash the see the v speeds but it flies good. I haven't used it in a while but really want it back cause she is some work of art this thing. can any body steer me to get this fixed right---thanks Louis
April 8, 200323 yr Commercial Member Hi Louis,Have you tried re-installing from the CD? Sometimes people mistakenly install the FS2000 R4D into FS2002, so be sure you are using the correct self-installing archive. All the items you are mentioning are gauges, so it sounds like a gauge installation error. I re-installation should take care of things.Bill Rambow MAAM-SIM - Rambow, Visser, Banting, and Younghttp://www.fssupport.com/maam_sim/maamsim_logo.gif Bill Rambow MAAM-SIM www.maam.org

April 9, 200323 yr Commercial Member Louis is squared away now, but this is a good opportunity to remind FS2002 R4D users about the registration black-out, time-lock nightmare. If you use a gauge cleaning program, or re-install FS or the R4D, you will get a different serial number and your key will no longer work. However, if you have written down your original serial number and key, all you need to do is replace the new serial number with the original and your key will still work. That's the good news. The better news is the new Gmax R4D, like 'Briefing Time', will not have this black-out feature. :-)Bill Rambow MAAM-SIM - Rambow, Visser, Banting, and Younghttp://www.fssupport.com/maam_sim/maamsim_logo.gif Bill Rambow MAAM-SIM www.maam.org
April 11, 200323 yr Commercial Member "This summer" is about as specific as we want to get, right now. We are working hard and still hoping to have her ready for introduction at the World War II Weekend at MAAM, but no promises.Bill Rambow MAAM-SIM - Rambow, Visser, Banting, and Younghttp://www.fssupport.com/maam_sim/maamsim_logo.gif Bill Rambow MAAM-SIM www.maam.org

How's the best way to get another reg key?Regards,Ted Panamarioff - Kodiak, Alaska
April 14, 200323 yr Commercial Member Just shoot me an e-mail, Ted. if you have the original confirmation e-mail from MAAM, copy that in the message. Otherwise, give me whatever details have and I'll fix you up with a new key. April 14, 200323 yr may I ask how is the new Gmax R4D going to be released? As a full install package or an upgrade that requires the 4.75 version as a "base installation"? And without the "5 mins blackout" of the gauge, what do you have in mind? As a registered user, I'm waiting to fly the new gmax version.
April 14, 200323 yr Commercial Member The new Gmax R4D will be released just like 'Briefing Time'. Initially, it will be offered as a CD with extras such as vintage manuals, video, and a user's manual. Some time later, there will be a downloadable aircraft-only package with the user's manual available as a seperate, free download. Neither version will have any time-limit, black-outs, or other mumbo-jumbo. You will be able to buy and fly.The one departure from the BT pattern will be the absence of a trial version. It's not that the Trial Version was unsuccessful - quite the contrary. With over 13,000 downloads so far, I think we made it a little too good. Apparently a lot of users are satisfied with what they got free and don't feel the need to support the museum by buying the full version. This was not totally unexpected, I must tell you. There are a lot of flight simmers who never buy any add-ons and many developers have found "crippleware" or demo versions counter-productive. The only reason we went ahead with it was the desire of AVSIM to have a free download version that people could use to practice for Fly-Off Competition to be conducted at the 2003 Flight Simulation Convention and Exhibition at MAAM in September. So the Trrial Version, without a VC, sound package, 2D views, checklists, etc. was launched. We hoped that when people saw the screen-shots of the incredible Virtual Cockpit and Cabin, and read about the wonderful sound suite and other features missing from the Trial Version, the majority of them would do the honorable thing and order a copy. 'Briefing Time' sales have done very well, but they could have done better, we think, without the Trial Version. So, I think we'll produce a video showing the features of the new R4D. The cheapskates won't get anything to fly. Sorry, but we are not in the Freeware business - we are out to make money to support the museum restoration programs, and I think most people will understand that.To everone who has purchased 'BT', we want to say a heartfelt thank you for supporting MAAM. We'll continue to give you your money's worth, and we'll keep putting out free goodies like skins and airshow packages to increase your enjoyment of the products. April 15, 200323 yr Well, you will certainly be getting an order from me - sight unseen. If its remotely as good as the original R4D and "Briefing Time" it'll be a sure winner. And if the likes of Garry Smith are able to produce liveries for it, so much the better (I currently have about a dozen Dakotas of various descriptions !)Best wishes,Alastair
