June 21, 200421 yr I have a problem with operating the landing gear using the pop-up panel. When I click on the latch the lever springs up to the half up position but clicking on the lock lever won't bring it up to the fully unlocked position - as a consequence the gear lever will not operate.Raising and lowering the gear with "g" works fine - If I do this through one cycle I find I can then use the pop-up panel as described in the manual. Any thoughts welcomed. Otherwise what a beautiful bird!!!
June 21, 200421 yr Commercial Member OK, guys. You are on to something, and in fact there is another glitch in that pop-up with the flap lever failing to return to its neutral position. Fred has fixed both and put up the new gauge files on our FTP site. I'll put together a general release patch, but here it is for the FS9 version... http://www.fssupport.com/maam_sim/R4D_Gauges_273.zipand for FS2002... http://www.fssupport.com/maam_sim/R4D_Gauges_173.zipJust unzip it to a temp folder, open your FS guage folder, and replace your present MAAM_R4D.gau with this one. With 73 gauge sets issued during development, I suppose something was bound to go awry in the last minute rush before the show. Our faces are the same color as the gear handle. Sorry about that.Bill Rambow MAAM-SIM - Rambow, Visser, Banting, Young, Womack, and Sodjahttp://www.fssupport.com/maam_sim/maamsim_logo.gif Bill Rambow MAAM-SIM www.maam.org
June 21, 200421 yr Fantastic, all fixed. Many thanks! While you are here Bill, could you confirm that the throttle quadrant mixture settings are set by matching the little white dot at the foot of the left mixture lever with the arrow on the quadrant? I've searched right through the manual but that isn't made clear and the parallax makes it tricky to see what lever setting makes for auto rich or auto lean. I've guessed that lining the dots must do it, as the basic panel quadrant has the dots just about level on the bottom of the screen at auto lean.Allcott
June 21, 200421 yr Commercial Member Hi Allcott,Well, like the throttle and prop levers, there are no real hard and fast index marks, and I suppose there never would be because of such things as cable stretch. But if you look at where the mixture levers are in relation to the scale when they are up against the stops in Emergency Rich, you can correlate from that. I haven't really thought about it much, and in fact, have never been asked through all the previous versions. But if I was going to pin down a reference, it looks like putting the loop of cable from the right-hand lever lock over the arrow in the center of each scale is about right for Auto Rich and Auto Lean. Be careful on the lower end, though, When that cable crosses the line into Idle Cut Off the engine begins to starve and when it touches the top of the Idle letters you can expect silence! June 22, 200421 yr Author Wow, I just feel pleased at actually finding a fault that can get fixed. :-) Usually I have just mis-read the documentation or something..Great response to get it fixed so quickly, I can't tell you how much fun I am having with the R4D, its a tremendous piece of work and you guys have got nothing to be red in the face about....John
July 8, 200421 yr I just tried to download the new gauge but the file seems to have been removed from the server. None of the URLs in our message are valid anymore. Is there somewhere else I can get it? For FS9 that is .../Martin
July 8, 200421 yr You've got to be quick around here! The patch will be out soon, but in the meantime if you post your email address, Martin, someone can wing it your way.Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumonthttp://www.swiremariners.com/newlogo.jpg _________________________ Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumont VP Fleet, DC-3 Airways Team Member, MAAM-SIM
July 9, 200421 yr I'd really appreciate that as this aircraft already has become my favourite and the landing gear but really annoys me as it is the only flaw I've discovered so far...Thanks in advance!/MartinEmail: [email protected]
July 9, 200421 yr Trying to send it but it's 13MB and may kick over my server limit for email attachments. If so, you'll have to hold for the patch but it won't be long, I understand.Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumonthttp://www.swiremariners.com/newlogo.jpg _________________________ Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumont VP Fleet, DC-3 Airways Team Member, MAAM-SIM
July 10, 200421 yr Commercial Member That link is dead because the gauge set has been changed yet again. The newest one fixes yet another newly discovered error - namely, a reversed master ignition switch. I'm surprised none of the DC-3 Airways guys noticed it! Anyway, it is now fixed and I will get that patch up sooner or later. I'm on vacation at the moment and operating on a dial-up (the horror!) Here are the links for the latest gauges, in the meantime.FS9 - http://www.fssupport.com/maam_sim/R4D_Gauges_275.zipFS8 - http://www.fssupport.com/maam_sim/R4D_Gauges_175.zip Bill Rambow MAAM-SIM - Rambow, Visser, Banting, Young, Womack, and Sodjahttp://www.fssupport.com/maam_sim/maamsim_logo.gif Bill Rambow MAAM-SIM www.maam.org
July 10, 200421 yr Ah there you are, Bill! Hope you're having a good paddle in your kayak.<<>>>Please explain to this dum dum what you're talking about. I've just gone and tried it (without your latest gauge set installed) and all is fine. OFF is OFF and ON is ON. Left engine responds to left control, right to right. So what's reversed?I shall now go and install the new gauge and probably find out, LOL! I'm going to back up the old one first, though ...Mark "Dark Moment" BeaumontVP Fleet (wondering whether his tail should be between his legs)DC-3 Airwayshttp://www.swiremariners.com/newlogo.jpg _________________________ Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumont VP Fleet, DC-3 Airways Team Member, MAAM-SIM
