August 14, 200718 yr I'm trying to install the B=25 on Vista-64bit. I am using the download version. I try to install in the Flight Simulator X directory, but I can't find it. However, when I try it again I see the Aircraft folder when I am selecting the directory. I have to install the FS2004 version in the Flight Simulator X directory before I do the FSX Patch. Can someone please help.
August 14, 200718 yr Commercial Member Follow the illustrated instructions that come with the FSX upgrade exactly and you should have no problems. I do not have Vista, but don't think it makes any difference. Perhaps a Vista equipped customer can comment about any issues. Let me say again - you must follow the instructions precisely, regardless of how experienced you are. If it is failing, you are doing something wrong.Bill RambowMAAM-SIMhttp://www.fssupport.com/maam/hgrsm_blkani.gif Bill Rambow MAAM-SIM www.maam.org
August 15, 200718 yr Hi Bill,I have both the B25 and DC3 installed and running with Vista and not a single problem.
August 15, 200718 yr I followed the directions. When I start the update it says it can't find the first install.
August 16, 200718 yr Commercial Member It would be nice to to address you by name, as is our custom here.In any event, I hate to seem contrary, but if you get this error message, then the fact is you did not follow the directions exactly. Try it again, pretending you are an absolute newbie, taking nothing for granted. The FSX Update installer must find a specific file from the FS2004 R4D in the correct directory of FSX, namely, "Flight Simulator XSimObjectsAirplanes", or it will proceed no further. It will NOT be able to find it if it is housed in the FS2004 style "Aircraft" folder, regardless of whether it is inside or outside the aforementioned "Airplanes" directory.Read that last bit carefully. If you are doing it right, after you copy the MAAM-SIM FS9 files over as per the instructions, there should be NO folder named "Aircraft" to be found in the FSX path to your MAAM-SIM planes. FSX directory = "Airplanes". FS9 and predecessors directories = "Aircraft". It's a completely unnecessary change in nomenclature by MSFS, the only purpose of which seems to be to make things difficult, and there is not a darned thing we can do about it. So if it seems overly complicated, blame the boys and girls at Redmond. This is why I felt I had to go to the length of creating an illustrated, step-by-step installation document. August 20, 200718 yr I tried to install the B-25 in the Flight Simulator XSimObjectsAirplanes. I browsed for this folder, but I can't find it in FSX directory.
August 23, 200718 yr Clearly you have FSX installed, and have at least some aircraft installed. If you look at the directory structure within FSX, can you tell us which folder your aircraft are stored in, if not Flight Simulator XSimObjectsAirplanes ?Its just possible that with a Vista system these folders are "hidden" and you may need to change your system settings to display hidden folders.Cheers,Alastair
