March 10, 200422 yr This was news to me...The newest driver for saitek joysticks (D use the cyborg evo) does not have a calibration tab in the control panel. Instead, the joystick is "dynamically calibrated" during use. I didn't really think too much about that at the time. I just assumed that calibration wasn't needed or somehow built in...I had been experiencing some 'drift' when starting FS, usually when taxiing, but also a pronounced sensitivity to roll left. I couldn't figure out how to fix it since there was no calibration, per se. Turns out that if I deflect the joystick axes fully through the full range of motions, 'drift' disappears as the joystick is now dynamically calibrated. I have made this a routine part of my ramp procedure now, seems very realistic - checking the aerilons, elevator, rudder, throttle - all prior to taxi.Again, this might be old hat for some of you, obvious to others - but for me it was a revelation. What's the line - "the hardest to learn is the least complicated"? Joysticks other than Saitek's may have similar features...Best,sg [email protected] | 32gb RAM | EVGA GTX1080 8gb | Mostly P3Dv5 (also IL2:BoX, DCS, XP11)
March 10, 200422 yr Do you have a version number and is it specific for the Cyborg or does it cover the X45/X36 as well?TIA
March 10, 200422 yr Author Whoops - double posted. [email protected] | 32gb RAM | EVGA GTX1080 8gb | Mostly P3Dv5 (also IL2:BoX, DCS, XP11)
March 10, 200422 yr Author The evo has it's own software download dated 2/10/04 (I'll have to look for a version of the driver tonight) - but you can help me answer that question: Does the X45/X36 have a calibration tab in its control panel application? Any joystick which doesn't require calibration is dynamically calibrated as described above. My assumption was that Saitek had used the same driver architechture for all their USB controller, but that might not be the case...please advise! Thanks!sg [email protected] | 32gb RAM | EVGA GTX1080 8gb | Mostly P3Dv5 (also IL2:BoX, DCS, XP11)
March 10, 200422 yr sg,The X36 does have a calibration tab.Don't worry about version number I'll visit the Saitek web site now I know the release date. Many thanks.EDIT: That driver is specific to the Cyborg evo, the X36/45 drivers are dated 28/04/03....ah well :-)
March 10, 200422 yr I have a Saitek Cyborge 3D Force, and sometimes if I plug it in when I am going to use it, its not proper, so you just go in and move all around then it works just fine, I was surprised at first as well, thinking I would have to callabrate it.
