New ATI 4.3's are awesome for MSFS!

Purely my opinion....butAfter UNINSTALLING the ATI 4.1's and INSTALLING the new 4.3's from ATI, I am absolutely in Heaven. I'm using an ATI 9800 Pro card with 128mg., and the new 4.3's show me the following improvements: Better frame rates, faster draw rates for cockpit, spot, and VC, and overall better quality. I use the Eaglesoft Citation for my default plane, and I use the deluxe version with all animations. Everything draws faster...including the chick with the laptop in the passenger compartment. So far I'm really happy with these drivers. What do you think?I hope this isn't just a fluke...but so far, so good. Stan

...Out to test them now

I installed the CAT 4.3's tonight and the improvement was incredible, unbelievable, like a miracle. 'Course I also at the same time installed a new 9800Pro which might account for some of the performance gain hehehe. Anyhow, they do seem stable with no problems so far.David

Using them with ATI9600XT and my draw rates when looking left or right from the 2D panel, is very bad. Large, blue and brown blotchy, squares.Wasnt this way with 4.1 or 3.10Any idea what is causing this?Running Win XP 1GB RAM P4.ThanksBill

Peformance with my 9800 Pro actually looks a litle worse than with the 4.2's. No framerate improvement and the texture loading is a bit slower. Overall rendering quality looks about the same. Sigh...Funny things these computers.DougDoug

Hi,I would be extremely suprised if the jump from 4.2 to 4.3 would have any impact on performance, good or bad, these "upgrades" are usual to correct specific issues with the previous drivers and specific software.FS is not listed as an issue so I doubt you would gain or suffer anything from upgrading to the 4.3's.That said, it is "usually" a good idea to keep up with the latest drivers anyway.I have installed them, and low and behold it looks and performs exactly as it did with the 4.2'sDan.

I'm running the Omega version of the Cat 3.10 and they seem to be just fine. No issues and very fast with great pic quality both in FS9 and in OpenGL IL2FB. So, I'll keep em' for a while.

My experience with the new Cat 4.3s are they seem to have reduced the shimmering effect that has been an annoyance on the ATI 9800 cards. Also they have about a 500 point increase in the formerly Mad Onion 3D 2001 test results.Terry
